The other day in JFK we heard a company guy on the radio asking what gate our flight going out of. When he didn't show up, the Capt went to the gate just to see if they were denying him for some reason. Sure enough, the gate was trying to close the flight 10 minutes early. Also there was an AA...
I got through to someone on the nonrev line in under 30 minutes today (29), so I listed for flights for the next 2 weeks just in case they didn't answer again! Maybe it's improving ;)
ORD has 7 runways, JFK has 4. Shut one down, it's really like 1 because they never use more than 2 at a time unless under ideal conditions, it's going to be brutal. The guys at LGA and DCA are really pushing tin and run circles around the rest.
Any suggestions on how to get from JFK to EWR in under an hour that's less than 50 bucks. I know how to do the trains but that will probably take too long. I get done at 1900 in Kennedy and I am trying to catch a 2100 flight. Thanks!
As expected there is some language in there about studies to look at commuting in relation to fatigue. I don't see any good coming out of this unless it forces airlines to pay for cost of living in expensive domiciles or includes positive space to domicile like some Cargo/Fractionals do. I just...
Even with early out separation, voluntary furlough, and early retirement offered, Comair will be down to 1030 pilots by the fall, with a total of 356 on furlough (up to Sept 06 DOH). The bleeding has been slow and painful.
If your comment comes from experience then you've been unlucky with either EMBs or with non-commuters who just don't give the extra effort. If your comment is just out of ignorance, well then I'll chose to ignore you. If you get guys from a commuter base, you'll get on 95% of the time. Only...
Before you know it, mainline will be getting priority on connection jumpseats. Can't wait for that.......
The whole S3C thing isn't a huge issue especially for people who were used to riding behind super senior mainliners anyway. The loss of S2s is really terrible, traveling with family, a...
So you're saying they need to close the CVG Delta base? That's been a rumor for a long time and the NW deal does not help. When will this happen? Since you're so wise please enlighten us.
If Soaper sent emails to FOs then that is very shady, but else what would anyone expect from him. The union is mum of course, more concerned about collecting those merger dues which will go way way up with furloughs. For the guys that do get the chop, I hope you find something better and don't...
This is a bogus source. There may be COLAs and what not but doubtful any involuntarys. We've heard gloom and doom for years so nothing will surprise though. Comair has been canceling flights all summer for bad staffing in the NE. I've said it before, Crew Forecasting and Planning is more of an...
Wow, all I wanted was some good ole rumor control, I had no idea this can of worms would be opened. If I knew I was talking to a legend I would have listened more.
I had to post this for two reasons because one, this is so ridiculous it sounds like a nice conspiracy and two, if this is true, Comair will be incurring mass furloughs soon. So here it is. Sitting in Atlanta today minding my own business, an ASA captain decides to strike up a conversation. How...
My sentiments exactly, growth is a garbage word. Until Comair starts adding airframes on top of the 2003 number (175+), growth should never be confused with recovery. Losing 60-70 aircraft due to bankruptcy and other regional vultures is a huge loss. Yeah a few planes stay at Comair here and...
No no no. Double Double Animal style. Come on now. Anyone ever had the animal fries? Not my thing. All you Cali, Nevada types don't know how good you have it. I make it out there a couple times a year and the In-and-Out is a must. :)
I think CVG is gone with United or Northwest. Either way ORD and DTW are the trumps. Good news for everyone in the tristate area wishing for their low-cost alternative. Southwest, JetBlue or whoever will enjoy a very uncongested airport.
