Wow... Kinda funny to hear all those who want restrictions out of Love complain about restrictions. Maybe they should have put some chips in the game when the terminal stranglehold was put in place 8 yrs ago. Now that the terminal is built...."waaaaahhh.... There is no place for us..."

I'm wondering: So SWA wanted that LUV gate and it ended up going to Virgin. If it were revealed that AC Gonzales (City Mgr) was related to a former Virgin exec, would that represent a problem?

Nope.

The gates were going to whomever the DOJ dictated. Had Gonzales defied the DOJ it simply would have ended up in litigation but the result likely would have ended up the same.



"On Monday, the U.S. Justice Department wrote the city a letter saying Virgin America is the only airline it approves of using the two gates.
American Airlines is sub-leasing the gates to Virgin America as part of its deal with the Justice Department to merge with US Airways.
The Justice Department told the city that it would reject the city?s attempts to have Southwest or Delta use the gates. The government says Virgin America would bring competition into the airport dominated by Southwest."

Delta can have as many gates as they want at DFW, so could Virgin. What 15 miles away?
Where was everyone fighting to get rid of the Wright Ad. Where?
Delta had a base in DFW and closed it.
SWA paid millions and millions of dollars to fight the Wright Ad.
Delta could have flown 717 DAL-SHV-ATL?
Wright Ad still says 20 gates and no international flights...wow still in the U.S.?

It's about connecting to a hub. DL had been leasing a gate from AA for the past couple years, and finally got the "right sized" mainline plane to fit the route (717), and now there aren't any gates. I don't see anything nefarious here. They wanted to offer customers a choice going to the Metroplex, and now they can't. That's too bad, but you're going overboard. And DL did move out of most of their DFW gates years ago, but still offer mainline service to several hubs. They didn't abandon the market, they moved the hub elsewhere.

Ok. Let's say the doj decision maker was related to a past exec at VA and did not disclose it. Purposely didn't reveal the family connection. Still fine with it?

Whatever dumb bass. DFW is a part of the Metroplex. You didn't know that??? Delta left because they weren't getting the yield they needed to keep it profitable. But now genius, DL should make $4 billion plus in profit this year. Wut wut? Did you hear that? DL lost a hub but gained a few more via a merger and will make more than any other legacy and LCC this year. Wut wut? Yeah, that's what I thought.

Ok Wave, here goes: I think Annise and Jim are related. Parker, that is. Still efforting better evidence, which is hard to do. Can't prove they're not related so far. Pet project of mine that I'm still not sure what it results in. I do know this: Houston would have wanted to know if there was any connection.

In a certain context, what you're saying is correct. I hate that there was ever a need for the Wright Amenment. Which means I do indeed dislike these conflicting relationships and wish they weren't an issue. And they wouldn't be, except that it's how SWA stays in business and successful. You guys gripe about this stuff and act like you've got some terrible burden to carry, but you always win. You've never gotten less than you needed.

Wrong again. First, every major corporation does deals. I was just pointing out how you were being selective in your criticism. Second, if SWA got what the wanted the terminal would have been 30 gates with a 5 gate international terminal that would have been built 5 years ago. Lastly, I understand your dislike for SWA but your one sided arguments are comical at best...thanks for keeping us entertained.

Why would the agreement to build DFW be reason enough to force legacy airlines to use it only, but the agreement to build IAH not be sufficient to create a same type requirement of SWA? It's because there's a double standard that has gone on too long.
