CitationAir To Cease Flight Operations On October 31

Textron Aviation confirmed to AIN that it will terminate flight operations at its former fractional and charter/management operation, CitationAir, on October 31. The move comes 2.5 years after CitationAir stopped selling fractional shares in new aircraft and ceased renewals for current fractional-share customers in February 2012, saying at that time it would instead focus on its jet card and aircraft management products. The company is now abandoning even that modest plan. ?We previously communicated with our customers regarding the decision to cease selling our fractional, jet card and management products,? a Textron Aviation spokeswoman said. ?After diligently evaluating options for the future of CitationAir, we have made the decision to wind down our operations and exit the business. Once all of the fractional interests are repurchased from current owners, the aircraft will be handled through the company?s pre-owned aircraft sales department.? The last fractional share owner contracts at CitationAir would have expired in December next year, a source told AIN. All ?impacted employees are receiving 60-day Warn [worker adjustment and retraining notices],? the spokeswoman added. Textron Aviation would not say how many people are affected, but the source said there are approximately 100 employees still at CitationAir, including 38 non-management pilots. These pilots, who are represented by Teamsters Local 1108, also sent a request to the National Mediation Board late last month asking for a vote to decertify the union.

My humble opinion, CS ceased operations a long time ago, when they threw in the towel on the frac business.... The aircraft-management thing they tried to do was nothing but a hail-mary pass with 10 seconds left And i believe everybody knew that.

Absolutely. Just a band-aid to help the bleeding until a feasible "shut-down" payoff number for the current contracts was attained.

Sad.

While still early, how many CS guys have been picked up by Wheels Up? Where else have many former CS pilots gone so far (beyond those who have left the industry altogether)?

It was a good company broken by greed and willful mismanagement. As far as sending a decertification request to the NMB? Maybe coolaid is so addicting, nothing can remove one from its tit of sweet nothings once hooked. Not even losing it all.

So sad...

Weed, your just an arss!!

...and you're still an ignoramus...there you go, brought it down to your level so you won't feel so overwhelmed...

Name calling... That's all you ever bring. Who dresses you in the morning?

Not sure what this means. For all practical purposes, probably nothing.

NATIONAL MEDIATION BOARD WASHINGTON, DC 20572 (202) 692-5000 In the Matter of THE REPRESENTATION OF EMPLOYEES of CITATION AIR Pilots 41 NMB No. 58 CASE NO. R-7288 REVOCATION OF CERTIFICATION September 22, 2014 On September 18, 2014, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT) addressed a letter to the NMB stating the following: ?I am writing to inform you that IBT disclaims recognition and voluntarily relinquishes all bargaining rights conveyed by the certification in R-7288 to represent the craft or class of Citation Air pilots as well as the certification itself. . . .? IBT was certified in Case No. R-7288 as the representative of the craft or class of Pilots at Citation. Citation Air, 38 NMB 255 (2011). On the basis of the above disclaimer, the NMB hereby revokes, effective September 22, 2014, the certification issued to IBT in NMB Case No. R-7288. By direction of the NATIONAL MEDIATION BOARD. rigger,

The management brought on the union through their own actions.

X

Rigger will never get it. He is too confused by his own anti Union Dogma.
Management will always have his type of useful idiot around to carry their water for them.

NO WAY MAN!!!! We sure showed them!!!! That'll teach them to mess with us! We shut em down!!!!!!

o wait..........the union doesn't provide pay checks???????

Also rigger, the union didn't "shut em down", Cessna/Textron "shut em down" do to the poor business decisions made by management. Period.

We were barely hanging on during one of the worst economical times in our countries history. Still making good money, flying nice equipment. That wasn't enough for the brain children who decided to vote in the IBT. Face it that was the final straw for Textron/Cessna. Many of us new this would be the outcome if IBT was voted in and it sure does suck to be right!!

Management types or company suck ups. It doesn't matter how much you would get paid, the model was flawed and destined to fail union or not. Feels good to blame somebody though.... How about blaming management for charging too little?

As far as Unions go. IBT was the best you could do. Their the least respected Union out there. It's like listening to a broken record with you pro union guys. If one doesn't drink the union cool aid, we're not as intelligent. I do thank IBT for one thing. I sure wouldn't have found my current position if CA was still in business.

The IBT didn't sign the non-compete with NJ that caused CA to exit the fractional business, Cessna did. From the moment that happned CA was doomed.

What I've never understood about guys like you is why you would blame your fellow pilots - who were after all the unions leadership - for the companies mismanagement?

Are you so mentally committed to the comfort you find in the parrent/child relationship inherent in at-will employment that you can't come to terms with the idea that mommy and daddy management would ever do something to hurt you? Or is it just that you can't face the fact that as a pilot you are nothing but a tool they use to make money? You want to feel special and the fact that others choose band together to protect themselves threatens the fragile underpinnings of your world view?

Protect what?? they closed the doors! You have zero power over how management wants to run there company. Face it, we are a tool just like the rest of the working folks out there. I agree that we were in trouble pre IBT. That's why in my opinion it was the worst possible time too rock the boat. IBT also made us unmarketable. No company in their right mind wanted to take on such a headache. Just because your so pro union doesn't make you right. Hell, you guys squeaked in by 17 pilots, so I guess half the pilots were wrong.

The IBT mentality gets under my skin. It's not so much the union deal as it's IBT. The membership there displays so much intimidation and attitude. Everyone whose under their rule can't wait to vote them out. Their motto is show me the Dues$$$. Their's about as much credibility in IBT as their is in DC. I trust no one, not management or IBT.

I hear ya FRAC! Ask questions and hold their feet to the fire. Congratulations on your new job. The rest of us have to make the best of the hand we were dealt.

I'm not writing a paper. I'm posting on a forum. Fine, I could proof read before I hit post. It must be so rewarding to go through life with such a higher intelligence. Spelling errors aside, you still get my point.

Only IBT sheep have mastered the English language. They love to pick out your mistakes. After all, they have nothing else. IBT's track record speaks for it's self.

I'm not IBT and I get tired of there, their, and they're being hacked to death. It's a sure sign of ignorance to make such simple mistakes.

Hi FRAC. You may have got a better job, but please don't insult me. I don't have that opportunity, so I have to make the best of what I have. Putting other pilots down just shows your lack of maturity. Enjoy your new job and I hope you don't have to look back!
