700,000 and not one Dal sign?? Huh looks like 1,000s of ALK signs celebrating with the Hawks. One would think we are the only airline servicing the seatac airport. Looks like Dal is not as well liked as you think here.. Kinda. Looks like you guys missed an opportunity. Good luck with all those new gates too... I hear it flopped. Port balked at the great Dal plan.. RA can not be happy with that. Don't they know he made 2.7 billion last year. Cheers!

You obviously haven't been to a Seahawks football game. Did you see all of the huge DL signs, and the DL box? Did you see the DL TV commercial during the Super Bowl in the SEA local market? How about the DL plane taking the team there and back?

And are you sure the gate deal fell through? I doubt that, the port wants INTL flights, and I haven't heard the deal fell through. How about a source? This was possible intel from the other forum:

"SLC CP inferred that our goal was a large enough operation to justify all of the A gates and the South Satellite. Probably would give up the B gates we've been using to consolidate everything on the south side. But it's all just rumor...."

Look, you guys are getting defensive, and for good reason. Hey, DL just filed for nonstop seasonal flights from SEA to Cabo.... More will follow!

Sorry was in NY for the Super Bowl.. Missed your add... Must have been good. And yes everyone around these parts knows your the official airline of the Braves and Falcons. Port told RA to pound sand.. Well pretty much. Port told DAL VP sorry and that gates will be available in 7-10 years though. Have to check back and see how they will play out. I bet AS will want a few of those too. Yeah your SEA 2022 expansion will be awesome. Huh I hear from the port more revenue is produced by intl carriers flying into SEA then DAL. Must sting they decided not to beg for your international flying. Your SLC CP is clueless then. I thought you were a man in the know. Oh well guess you must only get your news from the papers. Should be pretty quite there... My bet is mighty team Delta isn't to eager to let everyone know they didn't get their way. Cheers.. Good luck with the signs at the CLink... Last estimate from Bank of America was nearly 70% of SEA flying market carries their ALK visa mileage plan card.. Cabo will be awesome. Hasn't been a great market for us of late. Yield is really skinny there... You guys will be fine.. you have a lot more income to throwaway then we do. Sorry you seem so upset. Must have hit a nerve.

Unfortunately for the Village Idiot, Delta completely dropped the ball on the return flight.

De-icing is understood. A stop in MSP was not expected for this high end charter. These guys expect to get what they pay for....a direct flight from EWR to SEA.

What should DL have done to save the day? Re-crewed the plane. It's sad they tried to get in the spot light and then choked. Kind of like the Broncos unfortunately.

Hopefully more than once a week!

I guess we'll see, if demand is there, I bet it will increase. Did you know the new flights to Seoul, Heathrow, and Hong Kong will be daily nonstops? When are you going to start competing on those? What?? Never mind...

It was re-crewed, in MSP. Due to the bad WX and de-ice, and early start that day (117), they had to follow the rules, which is a good thing for the pilots too. At least they landed at "intended" airports, right?

There is zero chance you will ever fly a Super Bowl team, unless your app at UAL somehow leads to a better job for you. Good luck with that!

Delta blew it by NOT re-crewing in New York. But you knew that Jenny. Just admitted it. The Super Bowl Champs having to make a stop = Failure.

I don't know about that. I'd say landing at the wrong airport has more implications than stopping to "re crew" an airplane due to FAR 117 rules.

And what's that have to due with this issue Scoot?

You want to go into a thread drift about your post? Has nothing to do with this issue.

So Scoot, should they have re-crewed in New York?

You brought it up Red-liar. I can't believe you fault an airline that did "the right thing and followed the rules" for the pilots.... Traitor. Are you GK's right hand man? You favor paying for training and breaking new fatigue rules. Wow!

Why would they leave knowing they wouldn't make it to Seattle? Seems foolish

You going to answer the question Jenny or just dodge and deflect?

How do you re-crew at EWR during a big snow storm? DL has a NYC base, but we all know it was bad weather, and maybe it was tough to find locals. If that is the case, you then do what you can to get the plane moving in the right direction. Remember your MDW meltdown? Things happen, and if say DL did the best they could with the combination of bad WX, EWR, and then a 2 hour de-ice. And I'd also say a 38 min turn on a 767 shows they were doing the best they could. They were the winning team too, I bet they were in a good mood regardless. You are trying to make a point but can't see the big picture: the airline followed the rules and kept the operation safe, and landed at "intended" airports.

Yeah Red....and SWA has the Feds in their pocket to get around those pesky 117 rules too? You know that was the issue.

Besides, the Cheerleaders and equipment wouldn't get far with the capacity on your jets.

They still made SEA, with a quick stop in MSP. It's called multiple 767 crew bases, and a straight line to MSP and onto SEA. Improvising to keep delays to a minimum. Do you think they should have searched for more local 7ER crews in NYC during a bad snow storm? You probably do. What was the overall inconvenience? About 38 extra minutes. The de-ice took 2 hours and then typical EWR delays, with Super Bowl corporate traffic leaving nearby Teterboro too. You probably still don't understand....

Jenny,

You have a 75/76 crew base in JFK? Yea, they should have called in a new crew when they knew the weather was coming. Your saying they did the 'right' thing by sticking with the original plan but FORCING the Super Bowl Champs somewhere they didn't want to go? Really?

In a snow storm? Have you ever driven from JFK to EWR? How was traffic? Do you know everything about local conditions at the time? I doubt it. It might have been easier to fly them in from ATL. But, a decision was made to head toward SEA, make a quick stop at a base "on the way", and it all worked out, safely and by the rules. I'd say they did a great job with all the weather and mitigating circumstances. You think differently, but most do not. The company actually followed the rules during an important charter. That is a good thing.

Just sayin'
