I've had $7 figure years and am so happy I held onto aviation and this seniority number-
Just something to think about

It is something I've thought about, and I can honestly say I'm having no second thoughts. Good for you if you continue to enjoy the airline business. But I've lost the passion for it.

I think you are out of your feking mind to quit. It sounds like your next job or business has nothing to do with flying. I don't think your original reasons for flying had anything to do with your reasons for quitting.

You let the union and political bullsh!t ruin it for you. Was your original goal to invest all your time and energy in learning to fly just to do union work with your political goals as a union man.

I am calling you out as making an emotional idiotic decision.

If I were you I would first quit the union bullsh!t and disengage from the political. If I were you I would worry less about what others think or do and more about your own happiness. I find it hard not to believe you will regret quitting.

Get back on the line. Even if you drop half your flying just to work your way back up to it. Lay low. Stop hanging out in ops like a political animal, and things will die down. Get back to your base line reasons for this.

Maybe it is just me, but even as a billionaire I could not see my self not doing a couple of trips a month until I drop dead or they pull my medical.

Funny awhile back when we were discussing Spirit you called me a quitter for leaving United and its BS union problems behind. Maybe now you are getting s sense of what I felt a few years ago. Anyway if you can find a Part 135 charter gig for a few years it can pretty easily shoehorn into a nice coprporate gig. Mid six figures, nice equipment, fly 200 hours a year. It sure beats working for a living. The airlines seem like a bad dream.

I will admit flying 135 was not a lot of fun but it was over pretty quickly. You can't help but make contacts sitting around FBO's. Once you get an in, stuff like contract work or better paying jobs seem to fall into your lap. It's really nice to be able to choose from a few job offers rather than go to the bottom like changing airline jobs and with contract work its easy to make an extra $800 to $1200 a day when you want to. Just a thought.

Not at all. My decision is entirely about quality of life. I've worked for employers I hate before, and that's never been a problem for me, so it wouldn't be again. Before we made the deal to get rid of the 717s, and we had the 717 fence in Atlanta, I hadn't even considered the idea of leaving, despite all of the political BS with the integration. It wasn't until after it became clear that I would either have to move or commute for many years that I started looking outside of aviation.

Hardly. No emotion is involved at all. Just a simple analysis of my QOL staying and leaving. The decision was an easy one.

Get back on the line.

You must have a passion for airline flying. I don't. It's just a way to make money for me. Think about it from that perspective, and perhaps you'll understand why my decision is different than yours.

I just can't help think you are jaded due to all the political involvement. Let go of that, and you might find it fun again.

That is your problem right there. This is a business. Love and hate... I know they talk about all the Luv, but you need to sometimes step outside and look in. You said you are in this for the money. Think of the the way management acts and what they do from that perspective instead of emotionally, and it is a lot easier to not get upset when the expectations don't always work out. From my perspective as a stupid old man compared to you this is easy money. In other ways you are still younger and dumber and full of more c#$@ than me. You have had worst QOL than this, and I think you cut the cord a long time ago from ATL. You are still single I think, and I am trying to have an idea of where the hell you are coming from with these QOL issues. I can't see it, and I think it is some sorta bullsh!t excuse cause you don't want to admit what I am trying to tell you.

I think some of management like the emotions their actions cause especially some that are no longer here. For some it is emotional ego too. There is no denying that. Other managers to cover up their mistakes. Don't be like them and try not to let the emotions drive you. I probably should not talk either from what you see from me sometimes, but what you don't realize is that you have to let it out in a way that does not get you fired, and then move on. And you did that the best way with the union hat. Just hang up that hat and put another hat on. Heck half the union guys end up switching to the opposite hat. You would probably be good at it. Some of our mutual colleges and friends especially from days long past.

Best things you can do is stay outta ops and off Flight Info. Start cycling down to the base line ;) Heck Lear did it.

I really have no idea what you're talking about. The line is as boring as ever. No "mind feking," whatever the hell that is.

You can't see it because your identity is too closely attached to your job. Frankly, I find that sad. This is just a job, my friend. Don't let it define you.
 
I lowered my expectations of this industry years ago. I put a lot more importance and satisfaction in other things. It makes this so much easier.

Maybe you mistake my passion for how feked up PNCL was operationally when I got there compared to this place. I like to think my advocacy helped with the positive changes there, but for some of it unfortunately it took an accident for others to see what I was talking about. I wonder about where we are going recently too with recent news in that respect. As for AAI you have not seen me on the radar much like message boards or making stinks. Out of the lime light as much as I can. And why be in it with the FOQA data we have.

You are dodging the QOL issues.

I am already retired. When I get older I will have to slow it down some cause I will be slower physically. But hopefully the kids are on their own. As for just a job. That will happen if I lose my medical and have to come out of retirement. I do not let the Stevos and double breasted suites define retirement. That is a subjective thing and that I give back to you.

You just started shaving when you upgraded in the CRJ you young fek. I can't believe a guy with 30+ years left is crying about QOL.

I've already found them. I own my own business, set my own goals, make my own schedule, etc. I'm not subject to the whims of anyone else, and my success is solely a product of my own effort and skills. It's great. The grass really is greener sometimes. But no, you probably won't find any greener grass in the airline business, if those are your only horizons.

Not sure what you mean. I've been very satisfied with my earnings in this career. What I'm not satisfied with is the QOL turn that things have taken.

You don't need to be so emotional. Just relax. If you're happy with this career, then have at it! Don't worry about me. I'm far happier without it. To each his own.
 
We are turning this into some sorta troll fest. I only have one or two questions there yet you feel the need to pick away like this is some sorta debate with all the quotes. I know that is what you truly thrive on, but that was really not my intent or motivation here, so I will just hope you get something outta my perspective, and have sincerely considered your actions. Life does not have to be a troll fest and that can be self destructive.

Just wanted to make sure someone called you out on your thinking in case I don't see you on the line. I did not want to do it here, but this is where you always are. You don't run into me much out there do ya? lol. Good luck.
