once the merger closes with us air/aa republic will operate a total of 106 e-jet series aircraft for the new american eagle. From what i have read the us airways express aircraft are grandfathered in.
 
when will 737/A320 size aircraft be outsourced to Regionals?

I just can't believe that Mngt will want to replace the pilots retiring with more legacy pilots.

Ryanair already pays 737-800 FO's $27,000 year
 
The Skywest, crack "new airframe" team is spooling up in SGU. Internal requests for a Special Projects" team are out there and lots of buzz.
 
Based on the Republic award and American Airlines (AMR) plans for up to 215 larger regional aircraft, looks like there are still 168 left to award and to be operational from now until 2018. That's quite a bit of expansion.

"large" aircraft and regional should never be in the same sentence.
 
SkyWest gets around 34 of the 175s.

I heard it was 35 total...22 for SkyWest and 13 for Expressjet...ratio subject to change cause Brad thinks they can do it for much cheaper!

But I think it's going to take a while to get the certification, maintenance and training programs up, and get the airframes.
 
13 airframes at one company is useless. They will ALL go to SkyWest if any at all. Guys, get real.

If it allows you to start the aircraft program and compete for future contracts for that popular aircraft type, then maybe.
 
For sure, SkyWest Airlines has no "relationship with embraer"... Where did they get those EMB-120's they still operate again?:rolleyes:

If not for that HUGE E-120 order in the late 90's, Embraer probably wouldn't be around to be talked about right now.

Don't forget the ERJ is probably what United wants for bigger A/C, so the ExpressJet side would have a lot more than 13.
 
With the deal to buy ExpressJet they get first dibs on swapping for larger A/C.


They get first dibs, and they get to name their own price, and United just has to bend over and take it? I find that highly unlikely.

Im sure SkyWest inc. and United will come up with a new deal... That benefits them both.. Just like we did with Delta. We didn't have to get rid of the 200's... But we did.. (And used them for AA i might add). But don't "bank" on the XJT swap out deal as previously written...
 
UAL can only add about 60ish large RJs to UAX until they establish a Small narrowbody/DAL 717 type fleet at mainline. After that they can add up to 325 total large RJs in exchange for a ton of 50 seaters.

Sorry sport, hate to break it to you but this is the direction regional contracts were and are going.

Oh yeah, remember that scumbag deal Skywest pulled with CAL to try to buy XJt a year earlier? The one that drastically lowered our profitability or risk buyout from SKYWEST? It's the same CPA they bought into now.

This company is so poorly run it's not even funny....Maybe running a non- union outfit that flies out West is their speed. Dealing with a group with a contract and flies with huge weather and operational hurdles (in the form of mainline imposed EDCTs and major delays) is clearly not.
