I was having a beer with a guy who claimed he was a AA captain and he believed there was going to be major hiring in the next year or two. He said the airline and the union were "working things out", in his words.

I'm thinking about hiring on, any truth to this?

It's true, In fact you're hired! Can you be in Ft. Worth by next Monday? I'm forwarding your S80 Manuals to your home address on file with us. See you there, and welcome aboard!;)

Was he chugging his 24th beer when he told you this?

Eharmony? Whach you talkin' bout Willis??

Would I need jet time to hire on there? I've been flying a caravan which has a jet engine but with a prop on it.

And, no he wasn't on his 24th beer. He said he couldn't drink very much because he was flyin' in the a.m.

that depends on what you've got between your legs.... if you catch my drift. ;)

How short was your skirt?

Whatever. He had insider information about the Union and the airline "coming together to begin a new era of profitability and expansion", in his words, and believed this would have a positive effect on the employees who are currently plagued by cynicism and "bad attitutes".

I can attest to this. On a AA flight that was needlessly delayed due to a maintainence issue that should have been taken care of prior to boarding the pax, the captain gets on the intercom and says if we don't like the service so far, please call the number on the back of the safety card in the seat pocket and complain. When trying to explain why the maintenence personel were not there yet, he actually said, "I don't know what's going on".

Such a sad state of a once great airline.

I, for one, am looking forward to being part of the new era!

I'm guessing this IS your first rodeo.
