43% of what? An eagle FO is definitely part of the 47%. With the earned income tax credit, Uncle Sam is putting money in a new hire's pocket.

Agree. The 40% bonus tax is a WITHHOLDING only. You will get most of that back at tax time in your refund if you are a lower income family.
 
How many 1500 pilots are there out there that will work for AE F/O wages? This will be a test of how the 1500 rule will effect regional flying.

This one can that can applied toward your $10,000 PFT contract.
 
Has the ATP rule gone into effect?
not yet it is still in a review process, but it might go into effect Aug 2013 with no retro look. If you don't have an ATP, you can not be a 121 pilot

Hilarious... If you have not gone to a rating factory for a weekend and risked your life in some scary llight twin then you can't fly part 121. Nevermind the 6 week school the airline put you through.

Yes! Right after they start paying for medicals. To this day I can't figure out how something I must have for a job isn't paid for by my job.

While the actual ATP test itself is a bit of a joke (really just the instrument rating again), the main idea behind the ATP requirement is the 1500 hour part. While not every hour of experience is necessarily meaningful, and while there are plenty of 250 hour geniuses who are better than some other pilots with more hours, as a general rule, more hours = more experience = more chances to see unusual events that you can draw from, to guide you through new problems that you have never encountered before. There's nothing better than scaring the crap out of yourself to ensure you don't do stupid things in the future. Sure there are exceptions, but as a rule, the more experienced the pilot, the safer the pilot. I know I was safer at 1500 hours than at 250 hours.
