UAL Mgmt screws pilots again!

I saw the bid and it looks like they were moving more CAL 737 pilots to DEN, ORD, and LAX mainly. I think they had a UAL 320 bid for IAH, right? I think they are trying to avoid huge training costs by allowing people to move before the arbitrated SLI. If they did this bid afterwards and there weren't narrowbody fences etc, both L-UAL and L-CAL pilots might bid new planes and cost big bucks in training. This way, they already have CAL pilots happy with their planes and new bases, and no new vacancies for the next couple future bids. Interesting.

Request a 30 day cooling off period and continue with strike preparations.

Whether or not we're released to strike isn't the critical point of such an exercise ... the lost bookings due to the strike threat should concern management.

There are no lost booking until you are in a 30-day cooling off period and there is an actual strike deadline. The company will put out communications explaining this to the public. The company (and the public, if they read about it all they will forget it in 30 seconds) doesn't care about a strike vote or a request for a cooling off period because they know with the modern NMB that these gestures are meaningless.

You are never going to be allowed to strike because you are way too big.......I repeat, you are never going to be allowed to strike. You simply have to understand that the game has changed and it's never going back to the old rules. You may not like the way it is but that's not going to change reality.
 
Sure seems that way. CAL guys seem to get the bulk of the early integration benefits while UAL guys languish. I guess that's good news for my friends at CAL. I am sure Tilton is laughing all the way to the golf course...

Really? You must not be a CAL 756 pilot. UAL now has more 767 departures out of CAL's EWR hub than we do. Last summer we had around 10 per day, now we have 3-4 and UAL has 5 plus the 777 to BRU. IAH will lose all of their 764 flying to UAL 763s in a few months, hopefully bringing some flying back to EWR but probably more 6-day trips through UAL hubs. This bid is nothing more than a carrot from mgt to try to get us to pass the POS TA that is on its way, if they ever to agree to language. Of course they will threaten to pull it if we vote no. FUPM!

As has been explained before, your wrong. There is no rule saying the whole airline must strike at the same time. Coordinated strikes of different individual flights would have a large affect as well. If the company continues with their delaying tactics we WILL be released as long as we convince the NMB that in doing so we will not overly burden the transportation sector.

New meeting with the NMB on Sept. 5th. We shall see.

yea just like 2000 and the industry leading contract, did wonderful things for the pilot corps.

The NMB doesn't clear you to strike, they clear you for "self-help.". The union then decides what self-help tactic to use. Whether its a general strike or something less doesn't matter. I dont necessarily agree, but the poster's point is that it's unlikely UCAL will be cleared for self-help.

I understand what he is saying. He is wrong. From what I'm hearing from our reps the NMB is growing tired of the company's delaying tactics.

Like I said, we shall see.
 
What ARE you blabbing about?
The 35% raise that was supposed to take place starting in 2000, it was over a number of years. Job action short of strike to get managements attention. Drop off in pax loads, followed by 9-11 the next year, followed by BK shortly thereafter, that is what I was blabbing about. All covered by ATW.
