Flight Global reporters at FAS are saying Mitsubishi announced it has entered into an agreement in principle for 100 MRJs with Skywest.

If this is true it could be a negotiating tactic with Bombardier.

I'm sure the Skywest pilots will enjoy flying them.

In other, more important news..... Make sure you get your "This is MY Expressjet" video in by the deadline Friday. Exciting prizes such as an Expressjet keychain or a kleenex box kozy will be awarded to one of the two participants. Remember.... No rap music.....GOOD LUCK!

And TFAYCTD!!!!

Bombardier has just announced it is still in talks with Skywest in spite of the MRJ announcement.

Skywest reps were not at the announcement in Farnborough.

They signed for deliveries to start in 2017. 5 years from now. Thats at least two lifetimes in the airline business. Most people on this board will be long gone from XJT/Skywest in 2017.

Now official on SWOL.com, so I'm going to call this order of 100 MRJs legit.

From Brad Rich's memo:
"These 100 aircraft would be replacement aircraft for current ExpressJet and SkyWest Airlines fleets and are fully intended to fly under contract with major partners. They are not growth aircraft. The aircraft identified in the agreement in principle include the MRJ70 or MRJ90, which range from 70 to 90 seats. The configuration of seats would be determined by scope limitations and airline requirements at the time of delivery.
The intended delivery time frame would be from 2017 to 2020. While specific allocations are yet to be determined, we anticipate that aircraft would be delivered to both of SkyWest, Inc’s operating entities. I cannot overemphasize how important it is to remain competitive in our ability to accept these or any aircraft."

Of course by 2017 the labor pool will have completely dried up, and that sentence will take on the opposite meaning--any airline wishing to operate them will require highly competitive pay in order to have the ability to accept these or any aircraft.

It is a deal.

You will also see an order from Bombardier in the near future also. I wonder if some of the Crackpipe woman still want to keep the lists separate?

Who cares what those drama queens want. Soon they will realize that it doesn't matter what they want.

Every lifer at these regionals just creamed themselves.

And you would cream yourself if it was announced that regionals were going out if business.

Throwing stones in glass houses... If someone made the choice to make a career at a regional, that is their choice. It isn't wrong because it isn't what you would do.

I love how the ALPA email directly states that this is growth. How out of touch can they be? Yes we will lose 100 50 seaters but we will get 4 of these. That's growth for ALPA. Worth every penny of the 2% we pay them.

ALPA didn't read the message from brad rich, they seem to think this is growth..

"This new aircraft order is a positive sign for the future of our entire Company. Such growth is due, in part, to the thousands of dedicated pilots who provide superior service for our passengers and a sought-after product for our partners."

Probably see them in United colors @ Xjet if UA scope allows it.

USAirways Express flying outta PHX (Skywest) and CLT (ASA/Expressjet).

ASA will get about 6 of these. When the carpet looks like beach tar and the packs spew condensate that smells like your middle school gym locker (six months in),SkyWest will promptly transfer the airframes back to themselves.

Get over it guys. It's plastered on the Xjet website as nothing more than a dangled carrot. You mules!

Why would they dangle it in front of you ?? Who cares what they fly if it doesn't pay well. Let Skywest have it they don't mind making less on bigger aircraft.
