Does anyone know how often do you get to travel back home and for how long?

Depends on the contract and airline. If you have A320 experience and want to buy an A330 type, you can get based in SEA with Hainan Airlines. $198,000 AFTER taxes, and a U.S. base (several in Europe and one in Canada if you have the right to live and work there) is a pretty good deal IMHO.

(Your income is net after Chinese taxes. China and the United States have a tax treaty which prevents double taxation. So you get credit with the IRS for tax paid to China)

This is correct with the caveat that all these different Chinese carriers are very unique with their own cultures. Some have had expats for years and know how to deal with us. Others(WestAir) have no expats....yet. Great money but a complete unknown. WestAir is also a division of Hainan group which has a history of being let's say very difficult during the sim eval. My intel says only 1(one) guy has made it through the Hainan 320 to 330 program and he still is not signed off for the left seat yet.
I completed a two year contract with a Chinese carrier and am heading back do to imminent furlough number 2, from guess who, so it is a very viable job that can be very rewarding in many ways.
Remember, in Chinese "yes" means I hear you, not affirmative or that is correct.

Don't expect the China job fair to produce big numbers of jobs unless you meet the minimum qualifications. The recruiters will attempt to recruit as many pilots as they can as they are paid for recruiting. The problem will be the actual airlines are straddled by the CAAC the Chinese FAA equivalent who will not allow NTR guys to upgrade. The demand for FOs in China is almost non-existent as there is a cheap and endless supply of FOs. They are now producing cadet pilots off the street to 737 NG Captain in 4 years in China and this cycle will continue as long as the demand exists. The 500 hr. PIC rule in type is strictly monitored by the CAAC. If they hire you as an FO there are other rules which require 2 years in type minimum and a certain number of takeoffs and landings. The salary an Ex-Pat FO would require negate the benefit of hiring them. There are a few 747 Operators who have hired FOs with widebody FO time. There are now several business jet opeartors who are seeking pilots for those operations. Always a good idea to attend a job fair just go with an open mind and don't be surprised if there are not very many actual qualified pilots hired. I have friends at AMR with 23 years senority and 12,000 hours on 757/767 but no PIC in Boeings who are not able to get a job in China. Best of Luck to all.

China needs to pay alot more and better than the 6-2 off etc in order to attract me to attend.

The 6-2 contracts are the worst of the bunch. I know of one carrier now with 30 days on and 30 days off and another A-320 contract with 4 months on and 8 months off. 6 week 16 days are common and a few have a 39/21 day contract. Pay is now approaching 20K per month for narrow body captains. If you want to work twice as hard and get half the time off then the US is a good option.
 
Beats unemployment.

I have friends in China making almost $16k/mo, before the bonuses. I left that job to come back to the US, where the "quality of life" is, and fly B757s. I was furloughed less than 6 months after I started.
 
I have a friend flying in china. He is a US citizen, but likes living in china better. For him, the quality of life is in china.
