Requiring companies to present the total price of their product in a way the consumer can understand is the right thing to do. They are requiring transparency, nothing more.

You guys are idiots. Go back to Fox news.

Hey dash-
You do know that GK and SWA have lobbied for this, right?

This allows people to better compare with our no bag fee prices

As for the right v left--> you're awfully presumptuous and tangential- and herb is a democrat- and that's all the argument I need
Have a good day all

Except that they aren't. I guarantee you This or any legislation will not create the transparency you think it will. Sure taxes, security, and airport fees can be added to the displayed price but there will continue to be bag/check in/seat assignment fees after the fact. Spirit wins on that front. The govt cant do a damn thing right, not even simple transparency legislation will be done correctly. Actually, they can do it, but they won't because while the tripe they espouse sounds like they are working for the little man they sure as hell aren't. Do yourself a favor an stop relying on them to protect you.

I hate to bring something rational to this discussion that has already drifted, but the news articles I can find say that displayed air fares need to include government taxes and fees NOT add-ons such as baggage fees, check-in fees, seat assignment fees or any other fee an airline can dream up to "make" money.

Southwest and others fighting new airfare price rule
Jacksonville Business Journal by Michael Clinton, Web Producer

Some airlines are blocking a new rule that would require them to include all government taxes and fees in airfare prices.

Southwest Airlines***** ***** , Spirit Airlines***** ***** and Allegiant***** ***** are asking the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia to block a new U.S. Department of Transportation rule that will go into effect Jan. 24, the New York Times reports.
The new rule requires any advertised price for air travel to include all government taxes and fees.
Previously, airlines and travel agencies could list the fees separately, meaning travelers sometimes missed the fine print disclaimers about charges that often added 20 percent or more to the ticket price.
The airlines requesting the block are saying the new rule violates commercial free speech rights.
Southwest is the busiest carrier at Jacksonville International Airport, flying 30 percent of passenger traffic in and out of the First Coast in October.

The whole point of FI is to be less measured- gets me clear on my own thoughts to participate in a place where nobody pulls any punches
You do that in real life, you can cause some damage-
So don't get feelers all sensitive now and I'll buy you a round on the overnight:beer:

Geeze Wave,

You are a piece of work now aren't you. You don't like my posts on another thread so you just have to come on here and try to pick a fight.

Grow up why don't you. I have news for you, your life will always be worse than someone else.

Can anyone point to where in the Constitution the Federal Government gets the authority to do this?
