I think if you "listen between the lines", GK just asked for concessions.
That's his usual, pre section 6 tactic.

I suspect it's EVERY management's usual, pre section 6 tactic.
Well, to be completely honest, 99% of the stuff that pilots spout advice on in this forum (in the form of gospel, I might add) is crap. If we could actually run an airline (or any business), we'd be doing it instead of this, and making more money.
For the most part, pilots should stick with what they do best: flying airplanes, drinking beer, and hitting on flight attendants. Giving worldly advice in an authoritative manner should be only be done to gullible folks who don't know you, ie. NOT other pilots.
Back to the beer.....

I consistantly fly 80-85 hours a month. The last couple months have been closer to 80, and in the late Spring and into Summer I am closer to 90. So, I average about 85 a month. Throw in 4 weeks of vacation.

Save it for the 3Gs you date. Perhaps they're impressed. We're not.

I love the fact that you guys get paid a lot of money. But to constantly harp on how much you make is gauche (Google it!).
Dont knock it till you try it![]()
Gary is way ahead of all you guys. He would like nothing more that for every airline that is now/or soon to be, negotiating a contract to use his statement to give less to there pilots. Then his dirty work is done for him w/ the bar being lowered.
Ironic how so many get joy in GK words ( wanting to see pain on SWA pilots). Most might want to be concerned about what is now going to happen in there own house. GK is playing chess, while you guys are playing checkers.
I'm down with that. If a woman isn't over 45 I'm not interested. That makes me the PERFECT wingman.
What cuts do you refer to?The problem is not pilot pay, its about the price of fuel. Just a prelude to more cuts from the Airtran side.
What cuts do you refer to?
If you're talking about moving planes and employees over to Southwest, then sure.
If you're talking about some kind of wage cuts, then, ummm, well, good luck with that (as in I don't think the AirTran pilots are in the mood to give back much of anything).

I don't think that is the case. I believe what is going on, your subsidized flying (small cities that have been cut) is been shifted to our network to feed SWA side customers to the international destinations. You will see the AT's planes optimize big time. Get ready for ATL-SFO-LAX first day, and 5-6 legs a day two on the west coast, then day three SNA-SJD-SNA-SJD-SNA, then day four SNA-SFO-ATL. Get ready to work bro.
That sound great. But, you forgot ATL to MCI-STL-CLE-DTW the first day, then DTW-BWI-MCO-ISP-MDW the next, then MDW-ALB-BWI-BUF-BWI-ORF the next, and then finally ORF-BWI-PBI-PHL-ATL the last, all in snowy weather with deicing. Sounds FUN!

Not hard feelings, just saying pay cuts wouldn't be a well-received request.
No need to stir the pot, General, we're doing just fine over here, thanks.
