This 100%.

I know Gulfstream Commanders who describe their plane as a "big airplane" and even develop company SOPs to taxi at very slow speeds because of its size...No $hit not kidding.
Sat next to some GV guys in CYOW the other day in the concierge lounge. Overheard them talking so you know how most pilots are, hey what do you fly, how do you like it, you know the usual stuff. Well, my co-captain and I got up to go get another drink and when we got back, the GV guys had shifted over a table so they wouldn't have to talk to us lowly Hawker pilots. What a bunch of stuck up jerks.

What do you fly?? You usually dont even have to ask....the telltale signs are the Gulfstream polos, hats, bags, blogs, picture albums, etc.

Its not just an airplane, its a family.

I'm telling ya I nearly lost my $hit when a dorky, premature balding Gulfstream Commander (who posts on these boards BTW) told me "you have to taxi this big airplane at a very slow speed"

I wouldn't want to be behind him in an a380 at Dulles.

Sitting in my G550 initial, the instructor started the lecture by saying "Now, this is a REEEEELLLLY big airplane so when taxiing...". So, I was thinking he was kidding so I start snickering. (Having been taxiing MD80's around with the long turn radius--yeah, I know, it's not even a "big" airplane but that's the point.) Well, he wasn't kidding.

Anyway, I just sank down in my seat and went back to trying to figure out the desktop computers at FSI. ;)

Bottom line: An airplane is an airplane. What's it pay and how many days off do I get.

yeah but when was the last time you taxied your Mad-Dog into the gate with less then two wing-walkers and a marshaler, or had to squeeze onto a ramp full of airplanes on your own like you do in Nantucket on a Friday in summer?
I rather take the heat from you guys instead of my boss because I just bent a wing tip on a snow drift or someone else's airplane.
Just my $.02

Nobody is talking about the ramp here.....we are talking wide open taxi ways, and "fast walking pace" taxi limits. Its really in people SOPs.

The reason? - because the mighty Grumman is a "big airplane"

I think its understood that plain old common sense applies on crowded ramps?....(little citation or Big Airplane G5)

Sorry, I can't find where it says on the open taxiway and most of us "taxi" onto the ramp. Can't remember the last time I shut down on the taxiway and was tow onto the ramp.

Excellent. Good Point.

Glad we are all very cautious on ramps.

I did my CAM thesis on the hidden dangers of FBO ramps and how to develop SOPs to minimize the associated risks as much as possible.

I hope lots of reflective safety vests and a SMS worksheet were included...
