Same reason YOU are owed a job after 65, I guess.

What you seem to forget is its already my job. You just want it. Guess you'll be waiting a few more years.

Patience.

Not forever, pops, not forever. Not if there's any justice in the world.

Nope. Just until I decide to retire or am required to by law. Hope the parents aren't charging you too much rent for your basement bedroom.

A lot cheaper than your nursing home bed is going to run, that's for sure.

Age 70? Sure, but only under one condition. Only those that will have attained their ATP by the day the law is signed can fly past 65 (or something that would get similar results).
"Greedy" pilots milking the system? Solved
Age discrimination? Solved.
Pilot advancement stagnation and possible furloughs? Solved.

Don't worry about that. I'll have MILLIONS of YOUR lost income dollars saved up.

Why, exactly, does a seat need to be "freed up?" Why are you entitled to ANY "career expectation," especially in aviation, a notoriously fluid occupation?

No one who has ever put on an airline uniform didn't understand two things: its a seniority system and furloughs happen.

Again, WHY is ANYONE owed a job or an upgrade on some imagined schedule?

Not a bad idea if you pay protect me at Capt. rate.
Thank you for proving a point. It is greed. It's all about the money. If it had to do with the flying, you would be fine with the keeping your job for the extra five years.
Now, the fact is that your a greedy bastard. Not a problem. So am I. Thats why we both left lower wage jobs, military, or anything else short of being at a major.
We are all greedy. That's not necessarily a bad thing. I'm not greedy for toys. I want nice things for my family and to be able to fund my retirement as well as possible. Just like you!

The trick is to find a compromise that will satisfy each of our greedy butts. Just giving you an extra 5-10 years at captains pay and I get 5-10 at FO pay is not a compromise. After a rule passes, its all about seniority. Before a rule passes its comparing ideas.

Btw, Fubifish, I thought I read that you are still in the right seat. Aren't you debating for the wrong side. It's all in good fun, just wondering.

I guess you shouldn't believe everything you read on Internet public webboards.

SHOCKER!
