From your SWAPA President, Steve Chase

Fellow SWAPA Pilots,

Last week the AirTran-ALPA MEC voted to not send the SLI Agreement to their membership and SL 9 died a violent death. All of the work to get a negotiated agreement was for naught. Any future agreement will go back to the Board of Directors for complete review before being sent to the membership for ratification.

Early this evening SWAPA received a letter from Southwest Airlines affirming our position and rescinding their own economic proposals and other seniority integration agreements. In addition they have expressed that they have no intent to participate in the mediation process until they have completed their reassessment of their position going forward. The Process Agreement states that the Company will not participate in mediation unless requested by either our Negotiating Committee or their Merger Committee.

SWAPA is meeting with Southwest Airlines to review their plans going forward as a result of the AirTran-ALPA MEC’s rejection of the Seniority Integration Agreement. While we do not know what that plan is, we certainly know that the offer extended is no longer available.

When there are updates or developments, we’ll keep you posted. Again, thank you for your continued support.

Fly Safe,

Steve Chase

When SWAPA sent this email out they and SWA knew it was going straight to the internet. SWAPA has kept plenty of info to themselves...just ask some of our PO'd pilots about that. This was intended for public viewing.

And somewhere deep in the heart of Texas.....An AA guy is happy he's no longer the jackbooted stormtrooper of Airline Pilots.....

SWA you win....hands down!

Bill,

Not sure why you would think we care what outsiders think of us. Our culture is internal to our company, our customers, and our communities. It does not cross over to our competition. I'll be a professional, I won't whine at the tower if Delta 268 gets to be number one, and I'll try to be better on the radio. But my FAMILY comes first. If you view me as a sky nazi, I don't really care. Clear as mud?

This is gonna get interesting, but in the end GK won't let this deal die, too much has been invested in it. Wall Street and shareholders like it. If SWA and SWAPA want to treat their brothers like " the Rebels" in Star Wars, they may just get that, and that could get expensive for everyone. Threats and more threats. Can SWAPA make a dumb People's Court TV commercial about this?

OYS

Any time now, trannies will come on this thread to say, "What about our holdings letter?", "What about our VdV letter?", "What about our iron-clad contract language?", "What about Mike Abram, 'The Scope Pope'?"

PCL.....?

Whats that saying????

Last night I went to bed at 2 with a 10. This morning I woke up at 10 with a 2

..........well the rest will be history.......................

Please can the fellow SWA guys cut it out, things are in motion here that don't need to be repeated or broadcast, it is what it is, just another phase in this mess. Gary is going to do just fine by us and we should allow actions to speak louder than words. Enough already.

EXACTLY STFU! This thing aint over, just be quiet especially here. Sometimes you just can't fix stupid, SWA guys can it.

OYS, dude, you know. you can be completely funny some times, interestingly stupid at other times, but at NO time does anyone here take you seriously. Have you ever thought about that. Even the guys who you agree with think you are a joke. If there are others that look up to you, well, they are probably finding out that hair does grow down there. Simply, we will give you a pass, but grow the ******************** up. Otherwise, keep posting and keep being laughed at, your choice.

I think I just heard the sound of a collective "OH FUUUUUU(K!!!!" coming from the AT pilot group.

Actually, that was from the SWA f/os. The staple dream is over.

Yep. Nothing says LUV like a 100% rayon flag tie.

This thread amuses me. :)

Me too!

Nope. I hate to break it to you, but you aren't scaring anyone.

Please, you've been scared your whole life.

I think both sides would be well served to give up this argument and just work on getting you laid.

Though I think this letter is open to interpretation, I wonder why the AAI pilots feel that getting our CBA advances is NOT worth seniority to them...or do you really expect to get the pay AND the seniority because M/B has given you a sense of entitlement...

Also which group was the most upset...the "staped at AAI CP pay" 650 or the junior CPs who were seat protected and paid until 2020??

Blah blah blah blahblahblah, blah blah blah blah blahblah blah Blah blah blah blahblahblah, blah blah blah blah blahblah blah Blah blah blah blahblahblah, blah blah blah blah blahblah blah

More noise from the SWA interview reject. Obviously the process works. Pretty pathetic, your obvious jealousy toward Southwest, it really shows here. Sorry you are stuck at an airline that nobody east of Montana ever heard of, giving you a severe complex. Get over it, we are NEVER buying Alaska, unless it's the State.

Crystal....

But What does that have to do with the AAI MEC turning down your well slanted seniority proposal....

And another laughable moment is you thinking your "culture" is at stake...maybe the CULT of GK isn't for eveybody.

Good Luck with the Family.....

I think it was mostly the junior capts who were faced with a choice of being the bottom reserve ca's for 10 yrs or choosing to downgrade for QOL only to have that seat go to a SWA FO. Most felt that the terms would force a lot of our CAs to choose to downgrade. It seems the SWAPA guys were completely ignoring the subsequent SWA FO upgrades which were sure to happen.
Additionally, the SIA language was weak. Seemed we would be voting away a lot of very good protections for some very weak protections.
Over here the conversation was not about the money - pay rates change. Seniority stays with you forever.

Nevermind that the SWA FO was senior right? You might end up with slightly increased seniority, but man is it going to cost you.

SWA pilots are concerned about our seniority also...as has been pointed out many times, it is easy to say the conversation is not about money, when you know you will be ultimately operating under the SWA CBA...On both sides the conversation will always be about maximizing personal gains...for you the monetary windfall was a given and therefore there was no need to bring it up...it is good to be the acquired airline isn't it??

How do we reconcile these concerns? That is the hard part about this. Surely there is another way to approach this that addresses both parties concerns.
