Any Pinnacle, or Mesaba pilot on my aircraft from this day forward, please visit the flight deck for a free set of plastic wings so that you can complete your uniform. Totally complimentary, as we do understand your company is so strapped for cash they have been forced to cut corners. All others that don't have shirt wings are also eligible.
Name plates however must be ordered in advance for a nominal fee.

Regards.

Tell it to the $300k/year fedex pilots

FedEx actually has a ceremony type thing for their pilots getting their wings. No wings for an Airman is against everything that should happen. It should be a rite of passage, but for some reason (to save money?) PCL doesn't get wings.

Our uniform requirements state that the wings be worn on the jacket, not the pilot white shirt. So that's where mine are, on the jacket.

You ASA guys sure look dammmnnnn good in your wings. Every time I see you I wish our uniform code allowed it. Heck you must get all of the ladies with it. JEALOUSSSSSS

i just want to know when we all will wear the same color? When I get my leather jacket? Oh I am assuming that when I shell out the money for the jacket it will assure me a spot somewhere else

Plain white shirt at the hotel and people will assume you're there to assist with the luggage on occasion. This profession is still strongly tied to the military and we like our wings.

So, are your saying you were your wings on your "plain white" tee shirt around the hotel too? Because I would think the uniform shirt, with epaulettes and ALPA ID lanyard are enough to distinguish you as a pilot.

Last I saw, the military wears Velcro patches for wings and tells you not to wear your hat indoors. We're not tied as strongly to the military as you would like to believe.

Only if you work for Delta. Then you not only need the wings but have to sleep with the hat on.

Yeah, I sleep with my hat too but I prefer a piss cutter:nuts: I actually did roll it over with my bag on the ramp in SLC when it was covered in salt and snow. I was dragging it for a while so now it has a nice weathered appearance.

Thats the way its been done at Mesaba since 1944. When you kids have been an airline for that long come talk to me. BTW once you get a chance to fly somewhere other than ATL you will notice that many airlines do not have shirt wings. You probably wear at T Shirt with an airplane on it at the Quality Inn pool so that everywhere you go people know you're a pilot.
