Two weeks is the norm as stated. If you get down to one week and still have not heard anything email your recruitment coordinator.

Keep in mind that the weekend here is Friday and Saturday...you will not get ANY help on those days so plan accordingly if you get down to the wire for your sun or mon interview start and have not heard anything.

Actually based on 3.67AED=1 USD the Profit share was USD$18,184.00 for First Officers

if you take the free company housing it's +- 100k/first year
if you opt out of company housing and choose the allowance you will make about 143k/first year when you include flight pay, provident fund, etc. Per diem is not included in that figure.

add in the bonus and you are looking at 160k+ first year. Eight percent raise was just announced.

If you are single it's a no brainer. Over 13000 cabin crew from 140+ countries and the vast majority of them are in their 20's. Upgrade is running around 4 years at the moment. Take the doom and gloom on pprune with a big grain of salt. Everybody knows it's monitored daily by management. You can read between the lines on that one. Avoid the airbus fleet.

In all fairness, some of the info on pprune is valid and some is not. There are definitely people on there who have their own personal agendas. Coming to EK completely starry eyed because of a decent profit share, an 8% raise, and flying a widebody without researching some of the negatives will be doing yourself a disservice.

Emirates seems to be a decent place for those who want the overseas (American overseas) experience. However, you are living there and taking the equivalent of a Delta or United (read: long term) job with no DEC possibility. Perhaps FlyDubai with the ongoing DEC positions would be better? Any ideas?

I emailed them and got a travel itinerary within 6 hours. My interview is may 30th - June 2nd. However the travel dates are a day too early, and leaving Dubai to come back on the 1st?? Trying to get it figured out.... hopefully!

Yes business class both ways. When I arrived I didn't wait more than 20 seconds for immigration. They know why you are there. The guy that helped me told me "good luck".

Confirmed economy seats with upgrade to business if space is available at departure time is the arrangement for f/o's. Some are luckier than others.

For the most part, I would say impossible.

The only way you could get a schedule like that would be on a commuting contract, ANA or KAL. Other contracts in China and Vietnam are six weeks on and two weeks off

...ok, next question. What about if you lived in Madrid or Paris? Any easier to swing a more commuter-friendly lifestyle?

If you really work the system you could maybe get home once a month for 5 days. Emirates is not a commuting airline PERIOD.
