No, I just love the same things been written over and over as if it's still news. And then somebody starts a new FI thread about it.

It was a new article from a CLT point of view. You don't have to always open up threads if you know what they are going to say. Just resist.

Nah. The crew room experts have the unlucky airline pegged as, Drum Roll Plz.
American Airlines. Least amount of overlap and with their financials hanging on the stick shaker Dougie is getting ready to open up his check book and cook up some sort of prepackaged bankruptcy plan that will allow American Management the time they need to work over their labor groups before the deal is done. Trust me I am no cheerleader for US merging with anyone as I presently reside at the bottom (3rd list) and will be lucky to stay on the property when the dust settles. God help us all when merger fever strikes in Tempe.

This strikes me as the most likely of a series of unlikely mergers. From a route and business perspective it makes the most sense. I have no idea how a SLI would look, but there is a theory that says it could be chance for everybody to take a deep breath, step back, and start anew. Wishful thinking maybe. AA and the East side could be close enough in age/relative position/DOH to merge fairly peacefully... the West has the most to lose in a merger, but perhaps given a much larger list the rest of the pilot group could be convinced to slot them in something approaching relative seniority position since it would have minor negative impact on everybody else. 1600 West pilots into a combined list of over 14,000.

Can't wait for a new article about the sunrise -- from a European perspective. They see it before we do!

Deeply encased within the word 'news' is the short word 'new' meaning 'not heard a zillion times before'.

I remember Parker throwing the word "synergies" around regarding US Airways and Delta. What about the "synergies" with AWA? How about he fix one merger before reaching out for another? He's in over his head. IMO, another merger will land him a golden parachute, of which he badly wants to pull the rip cord on.......

Do you think Tilton at UAL wanted to merge for the good of the company? No, I think it was for the golden parachutte. What about Parker? He does well now, but those guys are all looking for the "big score." Of course, he actually may want to be the new CEO of a combined AA/US, and Arpey can go sit on his pile of cash in DFW.....all speculation of course.
