Your joking right? Please enlighten us all on who has good payrates on the 170. Ask your Repukelic buddies how they like topping out at $37/hr...even on the 190! Now thats laughable!

Not joking. The pay is awful. Just because Compass isn't the ugliest girl in town doesn't mean she ain't ugly.

First year, 25k minus whatever you pay for your lodging during training, to fly a 89000 lb airplane across the continent of north america. Topping out at 37k or 43k as an FO is the same thing, the average CA taking in 70k is also sad. IMO for the equipment/routes flown thats awful, your opinion may be different.

Plus we just found out that we are only getting 6 of the planned 12 additional 170's. Guess we got outbid by some European carrier.

the only one I know is Air Canada! Why... because it is a mainline aircraft. It is always a kick in the crotch when we see a AC 175 taxi by us knowing our entire crew (pilots and FA's combined) make less than their captains.

I think that it's clear that the 170 series would be a great mainline airplane at most any operation. With regard to whether the time to go to compass has passed or not is really a personal one. For some maybe they are starting out in the airline industry and it means a home base. Maybe for others it's a way to get back into aviation after a few years away or a longer then anticipated furlough. Could the pay be better? Do you need to ask? I don't think there is a pilot anywhere that really thinks the pay they get is "fair." People always want more, so it's not always about the money. There is value to be placed on commute, equipment, etc, etc....
