Anybody hear that Nike is adding another Falcon to go along with the one they've got? 2 Gulfstreams and a Falcon 2000 now, right? I heard they might be getting another french bird along with ordering a G650.
Hiring?
Is there another Falcon 2000 based at Portland?

Further research indicates that there is a PDX-based '2000EX for sale. I wonder if that's the one that Nike is looking at. Their current '2000 is an EX. I know that they post hiring on their website, but I haven't seen anything yet.

Well nothing on Nike, eh? I did get another whisper from a guy at Aero-Air in Hillsboro that a PDX-based '2000EX is for sale. Don' know who it is.

You getting the feeling that people don't usually discuss pending aircraft deals or other confidential info on pilot message boards?....

It's really a good way to lose your job or at least get a reputation.

Keep in mind 99% of the "in the know" stuff you read on these boards is usually pretty far from accurate.

Send them a resume, try and talk with them, find out yourself. Anything else may be taken as intrusive and/or annoying.

Good Luck!

Last I heard they had passed on the G650... they were looking for a local shop to refit the Concorde with full EFIS, stripper poles, shag carpet and neon lighting.

Let me put it this way....

Nike is a very tough nut to crack... Even with someone on the inside.

And yes, there is another 2000EX based in Portland.

Yep. And it's a pretty screwy outfit, too. Screwier than you'd think a big-budget long-term flight department would be.

A couple of years ago, we used an FBO in HIO that appeared to be where Nike's flight department was based. Did they move to PDX?
I don't remember the name of the FBO, but it had a big Chihuly sculpture in the foyer.

Nike's still based at Hillsboro, and I think they have had their own hangar for years. Maybe they get their fuel from an FBO. Don't know if they have their own fuel farm or not.

No luck at Nike. Talked to one of their pilots and there's not much movement going on up there. There's a '2000 in Salem, too, I guess. And this thing?!?!

Might have to wander down there and sniff around.

I don't have anything to offer as far as info on the Nike flight department - but I did want to comment that I always thought they had one of the best N-numbers around on one of their Gulfstreams.

N1KE

Their Falcon 2000 has an interesting 'N' Number too, if you think about it for a minute, N6453:
N-I-K-E on a touch-tone phone is 6-4-5-3.

I get the feeling that folks on internet boards try to start rumors to get a rise. So far I have seen 3 BS rumors in this one thread. Best keep your mouth shut unless you know the truth ... and then discretion is key ...

You mean information posted on the aviation clown boards is not accurate?!?!?!

What?!? That's CRAZY talk!!
Next you'll be telling us that the chief pilot on that Salem airplane isn't an ass-hat (which you and I both know he is;))

So, we have heard for years on here that Nike is a "screwy operation." Can anybody give any examples? Anything? Just curious because one would assume it would be a great outfit to work for, but there's usually negative info about them on here. Thanks.

Couldn't agree with you anymore.
Plus, if you did hear they were hiring, why would you go onto a public forum and bring even more attention to a possible job opening. Way to create even more competition for yourself.

Well I'm nothing if not intrusive and/or annoying, so here I go!!
Oh, you're something. Let's just say you're still not going to be a Nike pilot.
Last I heard they had passed on the G650... they were looking for a local shop to refit the Concorde with full EFIS, stripper poles, shag carpet and neon lighting.
The neon lighting, was that inside the plane, or the wheel wells like these little ricer cars high school kids drive around?

Every major flight department is rumored to be screwy, usually those rumors are started by guys who are jealous they can't get a job there.

They have their own fuel farm and ops agents. They're all Asian kids ranging from 5-8yrs old.

Sitting in MDW about 2 years ago Jordan walked in, shook everyones hand, kissed the babies and jumped on N1KE. BTW, the pilots wore Jordan warmups. Head to toe. Guess if you have to be in the front for 7hrs you should dress comfortably right?

Guess that counts me out for that job. Brooks shoes, Adidas gear. :(

Saw N1KE in Tokyo Haneda last month, took my Indian FO a while to figure out the owner of the gulfstream though.... he is a little slow!
