On "Countdown" with Keith Olbermann, interview with the Former Security Director of El Al, Isaac Yeffet.

Great quote right at the beginning--

Olbermann: Are these things [AIT and patdown] useful?

Yeffet: No! Not at all. The opposite. If we spend hundreds of millions of dollars . . . and the body scanner is used for pilots flying thousands of passengers and they are the terrorists, or they are suspicious--then close the business.

This is still on the media's news cycle. Keep the pressure up by writing your congressman here!

Message to my congressman for Thursday, 17 Nov.

"As an airline pilot my first concern is the security and safety of my passengers. A primary foundation of both are keeping things orderly and focused. Unfortunately, the TSA checkpoints can be anything but orderly partly as a result of all crewmembers being required to go through the same security checkpoints as passengers. We must cut to the front of the line in order get the aircraft in a timely fashion, and I must opt out of the AIT machine due to health concerns.

Every time a pilot goes to the front of the line and then opts out of the AIT, it pulls a TSA agent away from the checkpoint area and slows the whole process down for everyone.

I urge you to ask the airlines and the airports, in coordination with the TSA, to begin utilizing the already approved alternate screening CrewPass procedure for pilots now, before the busy holiday season.

Thank you for your continuing efforts on our behalf."

It's working!

The American Traveler Dignity Act
Ron Paul

My legislation is simple. It establishes that airport security screeners are not immune from any US law regarding physical contact with another person, making images of another person, or causing physical harm through the use of radiation-emitting machinery on another person. It means they are subject to the same laws as the rest of us.

Imagine if the political elites in our country were forced to endure the same conditions at the airport as business travelers, families, senior citizens, and the rest of us. Perhaps this problem could be quickly resolved if every cabinet secretary, every member of Congress, and every department head in the Obama administration were forced to submit to the same degrading screening process as the people who pay their salaries.

"next step is anal explosives. are you therefore willing to take an anal probe to fly?"

I have often wondered why they haven't used bomb sniffing dogs at security. They are cheap and enjoyable to be around. Unlike the TSA.

Obversations of my dogs indicate they actually seem to enjoy sniffing this area. A perfect fit. Getting paid to do something you love.

lol @ Densoo :D

I am no explosives expert but can dogs actually detect explosives like PETN, SEMTEX etc. ?
Yes.

My 1st cousin trains dogs for the military for this use in the sand pit (he's over there 6-8 months a year taking the dogs through actual on-the-job work after they're trained here in the U.S.).

They can pick out PETN, SEMTEX, and most of the non-military available activators in binary liquid explosives, concealed beneath several layers of clothing, liquid, and plastic as well as other scented distractors like coffee beans, food, etc.

Though nothing is ever fool-proof, the dogs are pretty dang good. That said, the cost to train one of those dogs to BE that good is more than the average TSA worker makes in a year.

p.s. Letter to Reps sent.

I see enough TSA people standing around doing nothing on a daily basis that I'm pretty sure most airports could lose one or two agents to pay for the cost of training the dog

Even Senators are riled by this.....well, now things will get done.

I love this quote. "I'm wondering why I got both a few weeks ago. I did use my Senate I.D. and was subjected to both," Republican Senator Mike Johanns said during a Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee hearing.

Join the club Senator. We show our airline IDs in uniforms and still get treated like criminals.
