Man, somebody is in trouble :D

Someone violated the TFR around a certain blue and white 747 at BFI. 2 distinct, and VERY loud sonic booms were audible over much of Puget Sound about an hour ago.

Supposedly, 2 F-15's from KPDX made it to KBFI (in record time I assume) for the assist.

Somewhere near the North end of Lake Washington, in a small office, a private pilot is being "interviewed" right now by Secret Service agents.

Maybe someone should stay home, focus on their job, and quit spending our money and messing up the airspace.

I take it you're talking about Obama. If so, amen brutha. No need for him to be up here campaigning for Patty Murray. If he feels so inclined, maybe he should do it on his own dime.

I am sure you know this, but all travel by PROTUS, or any other politician that are deemed for campaign and not part of the running of the country are paid by those using or requesting the service.
Basically they cover the cost they would incur for a first class ticket for the same flight. Crazy, I know, but they do pay something.

At least this is what I was told by a former campaign rep.

Gee, the cost of a first class ticket... It's not even a fraction of a drop in the bucket for what it takes to mobilize the POTUS for such events.

bet the cost of that first class ticket was blown/exceeded before engine number one on the f-15 was even finished spooling up.

I do not argue that. As I was told, that is the cost the country takes for defending the office of PROTUS.

This is the same cost they bear for the presidential campaigns.

Yup.

Of course, it was the same for his predecessor and assume it will be the same for his successor. The world keeps spinning...

2 F15s burning about a small towns income just to get to a poor 152 pilot that took the wrong visual point to get home. The gobernment at work. Why don't they put in heat seakers on AF1? Wouldn't that save these kind of things from happening?

Agreed! ...and that's the problem. This is not an Obama vs. Bush or (D) vs. (R) argument. Both parties have their share of hypocrites who preach fiscal responsibility, etc. It's just a bunch of lip service. They won't think twice about spending our money for their own political success and the advancement of their own party's political agendas.

Fiscal responsibility died a long time ago.

Funny, the POTUS is scheduled in Miami tomorrow along with a 30NM TFR, effectively shutting down South Florida's aviation economy for the afternoon.

I agree, stay the **** home!!!!!!

I honestly don't remember, it may have been before him, but wasn't Bush the one that started this whole 30 mile TFR around presidential movements thing? Every president has campaigned using AF1, and they will continue to do it unless congress acts, which will NEVER happen, just like real campaign finance reform and term limits in congress.

Its all a secret service decision. The prez can decline it but they have a relationship and such an action would sour it pretty quickly.
I am all for no mo tfrs,...just explaining what I know of how it works.

And the vote in Nov will change little unless a new prez is willing to stare down the SS goons and restore our freedoms.

Last fall Obama appeared live at three 10 minute appearances for Jon Corzine (Gov NJ). Consequently 3 of my commutes home were absolutely destroyed as EWR went into a minimum two hour ground delay program. Mr President if your presence causes that much chaos, STAY THE F*CK IN THE WHITE HOUSE...

It is a pain whenever the Whitehouse travels, for whatever reason. In 2008 I ended up having to divert when Dick Cheny came into DTW for a campaign funraiser. We ended up going to MBS with what looked like half of NWA's fleet.

In 2003 they switched the DTW airport runways cause of a Whitehouse motor cade and we might over fly them. A number of aircarft couldn't take off due to the tailwinds. Maybe they should just have them fly into military bases and have a better designed airspace restriction, not sure if it is possible.

I asked that question about KLAS, since Nellis is so close. The answer was "the public likes to see AF1 and their tax dollars at work." I laughed in the guys face. Anytime the Pres shows up here it turns this place into KEWR on a thunderstorm day. I want to see my tax dollars sitting in the oval office.

Sorry guys, my bad. Damned fish burrito w cabbage and refried beans. :-P

How slow can you fly the F-15?

I'm guessing those aircraft were loaded with a full compliment of 8 missiles and some external fuel. They would probably be able to fly as slow as 160-180 comfortably, if needed. Slower than that would be an option, they'd just have to use alot of AB.

Not much value in slowing down that much just to yell at this guy on the radio. If they needed to get his N number, they'd just fly a racetrack pattern and read the numbers piece by piece as they flew by. A couple of passes each just to confirm and they'd be able to pass the #'s along to whoever cared.

Since this is a discussion about AF1 and F15 breaking the sound barrier.. this thread gets moved to the military section.. a member reported this as not being a Majors topic.. I must agree.. of we go..

One parties boot on the neck of America, for one.

I agree the only way to stop the strangling of the economy is freedom. That's kind of hard when your party's leader worships Karl Marx. People refused to believe that the bright articulate guy, even with no experience, was just a snake oil salesman.
