If a "facility" is a taxiway, of course it does. I heard a "professional" Mad-dog pilot having a go today on the RT with fellow "professional" Airbus driver over taxi speed.

Being dwarfed by these two behemoths, I had a quiet chuckle to myself and dreamt of how I might one day aspire to become one of these hallowed breed of aviation gods. For right now I shall be content to feed them with 50 passengers a time, and look forward to the day when 767's begin service to my peaceful little corner of Tennessee.

Y'all have at it. It's really so entertaining.

You are not thinking clearly. The UAL uniform is obviously the way to go. If you take our tie and embroider a golden M on it you can use it to take orders at the golden arches!! Supersize that!!

Exactly, who cares what the uniform looks like (or the paint on the airplanes).
If we stand together on the basic principles that we can all agree on we can get this thing started off right. (which will put us ALL on track for a bright future)
If we bog down in the minutia, we won't pull together on the line and the corporate gamble that we are all being forced to participate in will fail.

Frankly, I don't expect any change from the current disgraceful reputation of ALPA. But, I'm trying to "Keep Hope Alive."

Your DOH on your premerger seniority list is about as relevant as the date a coin is minted. The value of a peso and euro are determined by what they can buy, not when they were minted. Similarly, the value of your DOH is determined by what position it can "buy" you, in a stove pipe, on your premerger list.

Long fences don't work, their very existance is a recognition that the list is not fair. On the other hand, recognizing the value of the jobs brought to the merger does.

One thing to keep in mind when looking at this hypothetical "relative seniority" list from 2008 is that the dates of hire on the CAL seniority list can be innacurate.

CAL publishes the original date of hire on the list. It could be the day the pilot was hired as a ramper during college (or any other previous work experience with the company), date of hire at an acquired airline, or date of hire at a wholly owned subsidiary (COEX, Chelsea).

So when you're looking at dates of hire on this list for CAL pilots and they seem a bit out of sorts, look at the dates of hire for other CAL pilots before or after them to get an idea of when they started as a mainline CAL pilot ('cuz that's the date that is most related to their placement on the seniority list).

Reading way to much into it, we fly both as one fleet.

Hopefully we can get this merger done and start our own REAL union and get rid of ALPA. . . i.e. the biggest scam in the airline industry. While I disagree with Prater on 65, he is no scab. He is a full term striker. At CAL that meant he was on strike for about 2 years. We can disagree on topics and still respect each other.

That is a true statement.......let's put Mamba's thoughts to rest right now - there will be NO independent union at the merged airline. ALPA will stay and with our membership we will have a strong voice in said union.
