Delta hiring?????? Anderson said he has 1,500 extra pilots right now at Delta and Northwest. I would think it will take more than 6 months to need more than that. Nice try though.

If this is true, why did Delta start to accept applications yesterday?

This thread should be shut down. There are a lot of factually incorrect statements floating here, starting with the name of the company...it's Compass Airlines.

I hear from a friend who interviewed recently that they're interviewing every week and that they'll be hiring every month, starting next month. What's going on? Are they getting more airplanes? I think they still have an option for 100 more planes.

Compass isn't getting more airplanes, the hiring is for increased aircraft utilization from 9ish hours to about 11.5 per day. That's an increase of about 15% which is almost the exact percentage of increased pilot staffing.

At one time Compass had options for 36 additional airplanes. I don't know if these options have expired, but it doesn't matter since DALPA scope limits the number of 76 seat aircraft to the number currently flying.

This is no BS this time. I heard from a compass rose pilot that they believe that Delta is playing favorites. They like the cost of operations at compass and it looks like they'll get a lot more flying and airplanes. I don't know though, other than the owner and good equipment, it's still another regional with bad pay. They didn't say much about the flow through, it's an afterthought now.

It, apparently, is BS this time. Compass is scheduled to get increased aircraft utilization right now, not increased airframes. Of course this is Delta, so the plan will change multiple times between now and next summer, when the increased utilization is supposed to take place.

Delta may hire in 6 to 12 months..... the ones that have their 36 months can flow....... not more than Delta wants though.... they are not going to have regional flights cancel due to crew shortage..... the rest and majority of Delta new hires will be off the street......60 or so sounds about right for a small hiring wave.

I'm not sure exactly what you are saying here, but for clarification Compass pilots can flow after 30 months on payroll. Delta must take the first 20 pilots per month from Compass, but only 25% of Compass pilots can flow in a rolling 12 month period. If 40-60 pilots are hired that will put the Compass pilot numbers at 400-420, which means 100-105 pilots could flow in any 12 month period. There are provisions for pilots to get a seniority number and stay at Compass for a period of time in order to cover flying.

If you listen to the whole statement from the hire up "fat 1000 pilots now and even for summer months". The overage taken care of by the drop in hrs per month at bid time.

This would be the first time in history that a major airline didn't increase it's schedule during the summer months but a "hire up" said it so...

Compass is the lowest cost DCI operator....They are cheaper than the rest of us...

For now. I think eventually when the longevity goes up, and the management expenses are only divided among 36 planes, the costs won't be so rosy.

That's where the idea of Compass is so good. If delta is hiring, most (if not all) people will flow up. This reduces the longevity costs.

CPS is 30% cheaper than anyone else. There are many reasons for that.

DAL did just change the application parameters. We did go from not accepting to accepting. We do not have a hiring dept per say, but I would venture to bet that the cog will get fired up and we will see 300-400 positions created here at DAL in the next 12 months. After 2010 they will constantly need pilots so I see that once we start we will not stop hiring unless something drastic happens.

I strongly suggest that anyone that has a desire to work here, get their app updated, LOA requests sent out, and completed. We could see the first invites in six to eight weeks.

Disclaimer: Conjure based on a lot of good info.

Acl,

Stop it! Don't you know that the majors will never hire again. And if they do it will only be fighter pilots, Capt's. kids and minorities:D And no need to polish up that resume, get a little interview prep or even some sim time. Just go in cold and come back to FI and piss and moan about how you never wanted to work for a major anyway, and that they only hired the losers and weirdos from(insert here) airline.

With that said, whoever can get hired at the beginning of the next hiring wave should experience significant seniority progression throughout their career based on attrition numbers alone. Its going to get interesting here in the near future.

it will be a cold day in hell before an hour of Compass block is cheaper than an hour of 9E block....keep dreamin...
