Get off the pay issue and learn about SCOPE. Scope will save your career and airline! Look at what is happening to the industry by the few CEO money lords!!!!!

It's ALL about scope!

With no scope, the bottom 1000 of us on the seniority list will be out of work so the rest of the contract will be irrelevant.

Don't give them an inch on scope relief. Air Tran may be a sh!tty place to work but it's better than seeing someone else do your job for less money.

PAY IS PRIORITY #1!!!
Without fair FO pay, we don't want this $hitty job. Farm out eveything if we can't make enuf to at least get by. Most FO's with families are in the red every F'in month.
Scope is most important to Capt's 'cause none want to get sent back to the horrible fo pay scale.
NO industry standard FO pay and soon...then bring in republic.

Speak for yourself Williard. Of course our pay needs a dramatic increase but without scope all pay raises would be absolutely useless.

Kind of early to be $hitfaced, isn't it?

FO pay should be way down the list of priorities for a new contract at AirTran and this is coming from someone who was a Captain for only three years out of a 15 year airline career. SCOPE, rock-solid-definitions, scheduling, hours-of-service and other general work rules (reserve language, open time assignment, JA) have way more impact on a FO's pay and QOL than just pay rates. Just ask the former Midwest pilots. Just ask the former ATA pilots. Check with the Southwest pilots in a few years...

... oh yeah, check with the Frontier pilots in a year or so. Your post couldn't come at a more appropriate time for ensuring your position on RAH doing your airline's flying is the new definition of insanity.

I agree that Scope is most important, however, fo pay should not be way down the list!

#1 scope
#2 fo pay = 2/3 of capt pay
#3 all pay, retro, rigs
#4 scheduling, QOL, hotels
#5 retirement & insurance

My personal list, after being at the table and watching the last 15 years of airline flying erosion:

1. Scope, bind the holding company to the entire agreement.
2. Merger and Acquisition language and protection.
3. Pay, flight and duty rigs.
4. Work rules, quality of life, scheduling and reserve rules, hotels (this company needs stronger hotel language especially - adequate rest is always a problem here because of crappy hotels).
5. Retirement and Insurance improvements

It seems as if those always are in the top 5, but everyone has a slightly different order, depending on their personal experiences. At least we're close to being on the same page!

9 in 09!! ;)

OK, not way down the list, but a definite third or fourth (and I agree that it should be a solid percentage of Captain pay - 64-68%). I'm sorry to see BL as the op of this thread, as I would have thought he had more vision than this. Pay is just one constant in contract negotiations. The other variables are what's important.

What good is a raise if you don't have a job?
