Washington or Atlanta Center- don't remember which answered someone else about it while I was flying through the same airspace- they said it was a planned test of the frequency and then they all made fun of the people saying the phonetic alphabet saying they kept screwing up when they got to X-Ray. That's all know of it.

I Don't have time to listen in on guard, I can barely monitor it for my callsign above ten.

You see, I am a DC9 driver, and my days of reading the newspaper are over!

We heard it, too. It sounded like each number and letter had been pre-recorded individually and some sort of automated compiler was broadcasting them. I actually was wondering if it was some sort of Morse code translator, but the letters didn't spell any words and were interspersed with random numbers.

It was quite odd and completely compromised Guard.

Could it have been the W.O.P.R.?
