We heard it, too. It sounded like each number and letter had been pre-recorded individually and some sort of automated compiler was broadcasting them. I actually was wondering if it was some sort of Morse code translator, but the letters didn't spell any words and were interspersed with random numbers.

It was quite odd and completely compromised Guard.

ATL Center asked us to do a radio check on 121.5 for one of the ground stations. We tuned in 121.5, identified ourselves as ACEY XXXX with a radio check, and were imediately bombarded with numerous "You're on guard!!!!!!!" from other aircraft.

Calm down people. You would have thought it was the end of the f'n world.
