Could anyone at Southwest please get in touch with your jumpseat coordinator and help us out? We need help getting in touch with him and getting an update as to when your jumpseat will be available to us again. Here is the problem.

Last fall southwest updated the software they use on their computers at the gate. When the agent goes into the southwest CASS section of website the agent can only enter in 7 characters for an employee number. PSA and Piedmont have 8 characters in our employee numbers and this makes it impossible for a gate agent to check our information in CASS.

On a side note. Many of the gate agents are under the impression that if they can't clear us in CASS then they can't let us ride in the back if there is in open seat. Some fellow pilots have tried to explain to them that CASS is only for the cockpit jumpseat and that we still have reciprocal agreements for travel in the cabin, you can imagine how well this goes over when you tell the gate agent she doesn't know what she's talking about.

Anyways, can anyone please help? It's becoming a problem for some guys here and it's not really fair that you can ride on us and we can't ride on you, this has been going on for nearly 6 months.

Thank you

The problem was turned in to IT support for the new CS2 program. The system has lots of flaws that are getting worked out. Some take precedence over others.

One fix that is now present, is the option to add you as a cabin rider if you are denied CASS. I think this is the workaround until they get it fixed.

Can't help you with the CSR's though.

Whattaburger and Guppy WN.......You guys are the kind of people that makes JSing on WN so great.

You guys show class in showing fellow airmen and women that if there is a problem, you'll look into it right away.

Keep up the good work.......Love riding on you guys better than my own airline due to east/west conflicts that some people can't seem to get over.

Always welcomed on my JS......Captairbusbb

The PSA J/S coordinator knows about this and is supposedly in communication with the SWA J/S coordinator (for 3-4 months now).

Talked to our (psa) jumpseat guy the other day about this. The southwest jumpseat guy will not return any calls or emails. He has been leaving him messages for over a month. Thats why I brought this up on here in hopes that someone at southwest can help us out or at least get an update for our guys.

Good to know, thanks.

When we have a SWA jumpseater I always let him know about it.

venting your aggression towards an swa pilot that has nothing to do with it won't solve the problem. I have brought it up with the technology folks next door. It can not be done overnight. Even the jumpseat chair can't just snap his fingers. He has to go through the flt ops wing as well. I'll let you know what I hear.

Oh, I don't vet aggression.

And I understand it takes time.

I just politely let him know.

my apologies then, it sounded like you were trying to convey that you were "reminding" them.

anyways, the character fix will push at 2am this morning. I'll verify it soon. In the meantime, happy jumpseating.

Wow thanks man!

No worries on the misunderstanding.

We had a Piedmont guy on the other day with no problems.

I will also see what I can find out.

We're glad to have you guys ride on us anytime!! We're all about the Non-Rev Express....

I think they are dropping the first zero and it works this way. Ex. 012345JS11100

Still have yet to hear back from our useless chairman, but hey, he's probably busy spending SWAPA money.

Good point 328 dude. It should be fixed though. I was playing around with the computer system at my desk yesterday. The field for the airline is seperate from the emp number field. They are 2 seperate drop downs. It should be resolved. Any dash guys have an issue lemme know.

I tried to have a SDF gate agent pull up my stuff today and it did not work.

Our PSA employee numbers are this format.

JS######

in CASS for every other airline we have to tell the gate agents to move the JS to the end of the employee cass number (not sure why, but this must be someones idea on the CASS IT side)

So it is like this:

Agent logs into CASS

Pilot ID: ######JS
Airline: US (we are under us airways in cass, I know it doesn't make sense either, I have even seen other airlines that have PSA in their drop down menu, I know airtan did, but if the agent selects PSA it gets denied)

Can a PDT pilot confirm that this is the same format they use.

we also have a number on the back of our id but i've never seen it work for cass, it is only our us airways travel id code. It's format is 0######js10100.

Did he sit in the cockpit or in the back?

Because we can still sit in the back even though CASS isn't working.

Negative, we (PSA) had a 18+ year guy that needed to get home and wound up paying $223 from BNA-MCO to ride in the back on SWA. Agree about riding in the back not CASS approved, but you have to get through the gate agent first!

I can confirm that this still has not been fixed. I hope this guy doesn't start a JS war.

Before he does that, PM me with the details and I'll send him pass. I'm serious. This is ridiculous. Our JS guy isn't taking phone calls this week I guess.

I thought PSA used "US" instead of "JS", thought that they and PDT got added to the same Cass list as Airways to save money!

FROM THE SWAPA WEBSITE THIS MORNING

XXXX,
I have played phone tag with the PSA jumpseat coordinator on this issue and have passed the complaint to SWA to ensure that the CS2 program is working correctly with PSA and PDTs employee numbers. I have not heard back from SWA on the issue but usually it is a quick and simple fix in the CS2 program to correct the problem.
I have not received any emails in regards to this issue. I spoke with xxx xxxxxxx, the other Jumpseat coordinator for SWAPA this morning to see if he has received any emails and he has not. I am not sure what email address the multiple emails are being sent to but the correct email address is XXXXXXX. I assure you both XXX and I are awake and are responding to numerous jumpseat emails daily. If you could please tell these people that have sent mutiple emails to please resubmit them to the email address above. They can also call me or XXX at anytime xxx-xxx-xxxxor xxx-xxx-xxxx
Thanks,
xxxx xxxxxx
