Interesting...

From the Polo Match with caviar to the Superbowl with chili.

NetJets has you covered!

The ads came before the game started, SMART, not as many people watching, but after kick-off, its $5 mil a pop.

I'll bet there's just Random McRandomson cruising the NetJets website pricing out their next vacation using their MarquisJet card... then realizing they don't even make that much money in a year.

net jets must be hard up

Net Jets must be hard up to have to spend the money to advertise their product on the super bowl and spent that kind of money. Must be very desperate for new customers.

Your flamebait. It was lame. Instructordude and Browntothebone are much better at it than you. :)

Boy, don't I know it... nothing screams "dying company" like advertising on the Super Bowl.

You may also want to warn Pepsi, Coke, Sony, and some of the other companies that are struggling to keep their heads above water. I'd be particularly wary of Anheuser-Busch -- they bought nine 30-second ads, so beer sales must be really down this year.

If you're going to troll here, you're going to have to do better. The bar is pretty high.

What do you think is going through the minds of the pilots that are going to be furloughed at Netjets? Maybe save the stupid advertising and let me keep my job... What an egotistical move by Netjets to advertise. Or are they really hurting that bad?

That rejection letter letter didn't wear off yet?

Funny post, but don't bother, you missed the point of this thread.

The point is that AT LEAST some kind of aviation company is advertising during the super bowl. Our industry sucks right now and there are a lotta guys/gals outta work. How about you help stick with us on here?

In this economy im glad they spent the money to do that. You should be glad that aviation was represented in the ad's.

grow up and stop bashin those that are outta work. Id love to slam your dumbass a soon as you sat in the right seat for that idiotic post.

Not exactly a stellar track record for internet companies.

How do people think that advertising before the most watch even of the year is a bad idea? Where did you guys go to business school, Kinder-tots Childcare?

I don't know if the company has any immediate plans on furloughing.... they keep saying no. For the sake of argument, let's say that the company believes furloughs are imminent, but they think that through advertising they can get enough new customers to prevent furloughs. Then, shouldn't all the pilots be excited that management took such a bold move to win new customers and save jobs?

I do not think that putting an ad on tv is a sign of weakness. Certainly there is a PR value, either in enticement or maintaining and image of exclusivity, regardless, it's in furtherance of the business. If advertising works, then the business improves (or in tough times, the business doesn't erode as quickly). Regardless, if the benefit to the business is positive, then regardless of potential furloughs, the ads were in the best interest of the company, furloughed and non-furloughed pilots.

Just my $0.02.

I would guess that those ads were contracted for about a year ago. I don't really know, but I know it was not a last minute thought.

The basic rule of advertising is "throw a lot of sh*t against the wall, and some of it will stick"

While, I personally, don't see the demographics they are chasing, at least NetJets is out there doing it.

Sorry to say, my company was nowhere to be seen.

It just doesn't matter what Netjets does??

There will be someone that's gonna "bust our balls".

Lots of people on the streets and we get bagged for trying to advertise.

If we get more owners we shouldn't hire anymore people should we?

No, we should fly twice as much because the people here on this board don't think we fly as much as they think we should.

If the Netjets pilots wouldn't have f-cked up the economy we wouldn't be in this mess would we?

Just so you know; when the Netjets pilots were ask to vote whether CS, Options, and Flexjet furloughed, I voted "No".

I guess I'll leave it at that, I don't know what Netjets can do to appease the industry?

I wasn't very impressed with the actual commercial. That computer graphic of the airplane with the sweeping shot zooming in on the tail, pausing, and then exiting the frame seemed a little cheesy.

Watching it I thought it came off as a cross between some European low cost carrier and ShamWow.

Mr. Santulli is a great, succesfull business man. His business savy parallels that of Gates and Buffet. And here we are, some pilots who don't even work for NJA questioning (borderline bashing) his decision to advertise on Superbowl Sunday. And us NJA guys defending his decision......something very wrong with this.

wheter we furlough or not, I think it was a great idea to pay to have the whole country see the NetJets' logo on superbowl sunday.

It's one thing to bash each other, but let's keep Shamwow out of this!!

What do you think the Netjet pilots that are about to get furloughed think about the the ads? Maybe the money spent on the ads could have saved their jobs?

If there are savy business minds they will know that the money spent couls possibly save them from furlough or help get their jobs back.

Netjets is still being proactive instead of reactive......I applaud that effort.

I will offer this hypothetical to you.

Let's saw 6 million people watched on TV (have no idea the real number.), and of those 6 million let's say only 1,000 have the money and opportunity to buy into a fractional program. Of those 1,000 only 500 are interested. Of the 500, 100 sign a contract and purchase a 1/4 share. ( for those of you playing along at home that is <1% of the viewing audience.)

That's puts another 25 airframes potentially in services. If you crew that at 5 per airplane (not sure how NJA crews) that is another 125 potential jobs saved or added.

Yes, I concede that this may not be the case, and that it is a risk, but in my eyes this investment in the company is a good thing....it could end up saving jobs.

not saying you disagree with the advertising, just wanted to use your post as a jumpoff point.
