I haven't put in my .02 about PFT for a while, but let me just say not all PFT is the same.
Obviously, I think there's a consensus that carrying passengers in required positon that you paid for is wrong. If no one paid for that positon, these Gulfstreams and what not would be forced to pay for FOs.
On the other hand, there are Alpines and Ameriflights out there that will take an FO if they want, or fly single pilot without them. I don't have a problem with this. Guys who go through these programs have an uphill battle to face once they're done. Airline interviewers know these programs, and if something doesn't look quite right, they'll err on the safe side and leave them on the street. I've seen it at all levels too, from canyon tours to cargo to 121 airlines.
