Of all the Part 91 companies in the world, these were some 91 pilots that certainly never saw this coming.

I heard something about this earlier today and I'm still in shock. What incredible stupidity.

I understand there are some opportunities for the GM guys-good luck in the decision and the future, and the same to the Ford pilots.

thank you congress for helping increase unemployment in the detroit area.

Thats bul!********************. Hopefully these guys have some sort of recourse as the US government has driven them out of private sector jobs.

It is sad for these guys, but let's not lose site of the bigger picture here. It helps with PR and will save some money.

What do you mean, having those flight departments is completely unnecassary. And to have flown their G's to Washington to ask for billions of dollars was just stupid.

I'm sure those pilots have very nice severance packages, don't worry, they'll be just fine. If they don't have severance packages, then their bad for not having them in their contracts. I wouldn't fly for a 91 operator without one.

these moron CEO's should have known better. What they did was like parking your Lexus in front of the public, getting out wearing a fur coat and asking for Christmas money in front of Wal-Mart.

unfortunately the pilots will pay the price.

"Completely unnecessary?"

Is the flight dept. you fly for unnecessary too? Why is yours different? Now while I don't agree with the 3 CEO's going into Congress unprepared, you cannot accurately argue that their flight depts serve no purpose. Explain to us how it makes more sense for a CEO who gets paid about $11,500 an hour to be stuck in a crappy hybrid SUV for a 525 mile drive.

2nd, some pilots did get a severance package. But not all. Not all will be just fine. It is not a terrific job market in the Detroit area, in case you had your head buried in your CEO's zipper. When you come up for air, don't forget that these are real people who lost real jobs. A great number of pilots are now out of a job and instead of showing support, you revel in their misfortune and the fact they never saw it coming. They don't need a snobby shmuck to come online and brag about his severance package in front of their noses. Are you going to brag about your life insurance policy? Are you the smartest kid with Downs syndrome?

Everyone who reads more and more of your self-centered posts just come closer to the realization that you are the kind of person and pilot who does nothing for anyone else, everything for personal gain, even at the cost of plenty of trouser-friendly contact. Deep down, in a place you don't like to talk about at the hotel bar, you wish you weren't such a total waste of human life that all hope to avoid.

How about you do everyone in the pilot community a giant favor, and just quit your job and take your shiny severance package? And stick it where the sun don't shine. Then one of the many pilots now on the street today that are actually deserving of a corporate pilot job will have their career placed back on track.
