Hey aa73, was wondering also.........

1. How many were realistically expected? What would have been considered a "huge" December 1st?

2. When is the next potential big retirement day?

3. Yesterday, a flowback on the bus was saying that a big December 1st would have triggered February recall classes. Sounds a bit optimistic on that front, but would you think recalls before the summer are a realistic hope? 200 slots could take care of the remaining 1200 currently waiting to be called...........

Starscream,

Most were expecting 100-200 at the VERY least. The B fund unit value dropped drastically from August to September (for the 3 month look back for lock in.) From now on the new B fund unit value is way lower, which will result in dramatically reduced early outs for the next few months at least. Dec 1 is looking like the last chance "take the money and run" for a long time.

I guess some pilots just define themselves with this job. Apparently there was a 57 year old A-Scaler with a gazillion B fund units hired at age 22 who decided to stay...

As far as recalls resuming, the rumors are flying around next spring. I wouldn't be surprised, especially in light of accelerated 737 deliveries and not-so-fast MD80/A300 retirements. As long as oil stays down, I think we'll see recalls resuming sometime next year (albeit a "trickle" recall.) Just my crystal ball, it probably needs a good polishing.

another question- i thought AA was next in line in the negotiating process after AAA bailed out for their seniority issues. What's the latest? And the latest on scope?

At a snails pace would be overstating. Hopefully 2009 is the year we are released to self help, as that is the only time AA will really start to negotiate.

SCOPE is not open for discussion on our side, period.
