Just received the interview invite in my e-mail tonight. I'd appreciate an PM from anyone willing with the latest and greatest gouge or things to know for the interview.

Am I understanding correctly from the origional poster that GLA doesn't even provide a flight to the interview?

Yeah, they do...

Lakes does provide a flight to the interview, although it's only on their flights. As far as the interview is concerned, it's fairly typical stuff: why Lakes, have you ever broken any FARs, what is your worst quality, if a Captain descends below MDA on an approach, what are you going to do, etc.

^^^ Too bad we couldn't be in the same circumstances. But there's a plus to doing it all on your own I call it pride and hard work and it feels better in the end when you see the results and you know you got there because of you and no one else.
The road of the paper boy is lonely and desolate. Some days you ride your stingray slinging papers left and right with nary a soul to wave to. Other days you see the airline pilot just leaving your moms house after administering her much needed meat injection that your dad saves for his boyfriend. Alas the news must be delivered no matter what.
PBR

I actually deliver in a Ford Ranger, and if you really wanted to know my moms dead so no hot beef injections for her.

then what???

...121 PIC in 4-5 months, some folks will sell their souls for less ;)

GLA will get a pilot in the left seat to start logging PIC time quickly and then what???

I guess it would lead to another FO seat with a carrier flying a jet, right? One would hope this would be the course.

We sure punish ourselves by doing crazy things just to fly a bigger aircraft. Oh well, the 1900 is fun to fly and a good way to cut one's teeth in the 121 world as a PIC.

If you look on aviationinterviews.com the gouge is up to date and very accurate. Other than that Know jepp low enroute and approach plates like the back of your hand along with simple FAR/AIM IFR knowledge and you'll do fine.

Thanks! I have been reading over the gouges on aviationinterviews.com. There is gouge from, I believe, back in July that said it was probably the last interview group to NOT do a sim. All subsequent gouges had no mention of a sim so I assume it is still just tech and HR with no sim? I just want to know what I'm in for. I've heard that when there was a sim eval they were doing ADF approaches. Haven't done one of those in almost seven years so I'll probably want to get some practice before hand if a sim eval awaits..

I left there over 4 years ago but unless things have changed, it would be a very good idea to be prepared to demonstrate an NDB approach in the sim. The 1900's were equipped with ADF's and again, unless things have changed, there's no GPS so one is pretty much down to ILS/LOC, VOR and NDB approaches.

Five weeks of training with no pay, A $7500 training contract, Low FO pay for at least 300 hours before becoming a CA (probably 4 - 5 months) How can anyone afford to do this? Not to mention you have to pay your own way to get to the interview. What's the appeal?
Right here is why they need ALPA.
ALPA will come onto the property, scare management into paying these pilots what they truely deserve.
Starting pay will be upwards of $75k in the right seat. They will also offer signing bonuses of $15k.
ALPA will get these guys the contract they deserve. No JMing, minimum of 23 days off a month. Crew meals. 5 Star Resort Hotels and a company credit cards.
So I tell you at this time, My Friends. VOTE ALPA!!! ALPA and Osama Obama will save the world!
