HOUSTON, Nov. 10 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- After more than four years of stagnant contract negotiations, the flight deck crewmembers of Air Transport International (ATI) have demonstrated their steadfast resolve to strike if and when released by the National Mediation Board. Strike ballots were counted and certified on Friday, November 7, 2008 at the main headquarters of International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT) Local 747, ATI crewmembers' collective bargaining representative. ATI crewmembers voted 100 percent in favor of a strike job action.
"We have willingly worked with ATI management throughout the negotiations process--it is past time for them to reciprocate. Not only are they unwilling to negotiate in good faith, but they continue to chip away at the few remaining benefits on which our crewmembers depend such as home-basing," said Capt. Tom Rogers, chairman of the ATI Executive Council.
ATI flight deck crewmembers have been in contract negotiations with management since June 2004. Negotiations have been held under the auspices of a mediator from the National Mediation Board since October 2006.
"The unanimous support for a strike by the ATI crewmembers, especially during an economic downturn within the airline industry, sends an unrivaled message to the management of ATI. The work ethic and productivity of this pilot group continues to be a core cause of ATI's profitability. Management's persistent unwillingness to recognize that sizable contribution will directly result in a loss for ATI and its shareholders," stated IBT Local 747 President E.E. Sowell.
Air Transport International, a subsidiary of Air Transport Services Group, Inc, is a U.S. certified air carrier offering air transportation services throughout the world for the United States Air Mobility Command (USAF AMC) and commercial customers such as BAX Global Inc and AMX Cargo.
International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local Union 747 represents approximately 5,000 flight deck crewmembers, flying for 14 different airlines worldwide. Founded in 1903, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters represents more than 1.4 million hardworking men and women throughout the United States and Canada.

142 ballots returned (high 90s % participation), 6 ballots deemed ineligible, 136 of 136 ballots opened were in favor. SNAP!

Keep in mind that this is a strike authorization, so we have a few wickets to run through before anything untoward happens.

Let me get this straight: ATI, Cappy and ABX part of the same company ATSG. DHL will leave USA. ABX works for DHL. No more jobs after Jan 30. ATSG stock from 7.39 USD 1 year ago down to 16 cents. Sorry, today it went up to 18 cents. Hmmm! ATI must know something which is not known the general public. Good luck to them but I see interesting times ahead. Just an opinion.

Thanks, Box. I'm pretty sure that same sentiment runs among 99% of us anyway, Cappy, ABX and ATI.

Another thing I'm confident of is that BAX and ATSG both are highly motivated to avert a strike on our part. We may not look like a golden goose, but there's some golden eggs rolling around in our nest. Maybe we'll actually get a contract out of this yet. And while it would be within reason that we slap down ABX's contract and say "let's negotiate", we're not even asking for that much. We're being more than reasonable with our management. Unfortunately, that's where it seems to end.

was pretty tasteless true, but I did here that management is going to push ATI and if they do go on strike they plan on bringing in abx. Obviously abx loses their ride in the next couple of months and will have plenty of lift to repo to toledo, if ATI goes out.

to help the ATI guys the ABX mec should make it perfectly clear NO ABX aircraft are going to TOL if ATI goes out. I know that the mec here at cappy is already getting their ducks in row with ALPA and legal to send that message to management.

Cappy is already in a strange situation because we do, do ATI trips often. So the mec is working with legal on a definition of what we can and cannot due.

Should be more cut and dry with ABX since your not in Toledo already. Cappy doesnt have the resources and personnel anyways to do any extra flying, but ABX certainly is going to have plenty of lift doing nothing.

Im no expert but I would say ATI has the upper hand. I would bet they are the ones earning the most. Due to the fact they are the only ones crazy enough or legal to fly the crap they do. DoD pays a pretty penny for that service. If I remember right your under the old ICX cert? Thats why your combis reg numbers end in CX? (yep thats spookair)
