Gday all,

I know there have been forums about this before but it doesn't look like there are any open right now.

My question is whether you must work for NJA before going to NJI. I heard 2 years with NJA before you can bid for it. Have I got this correct.

Anyone care to shed some light??

Correct on both counts. Per a letter of agreement signed by the company and the NJA pilots' union, all pilots must come from the NJA seniority list as of 11/21, and require 2 years of NJA seniority before one can bid into the Gulfstream program.

Also the last class hired at NJI has finished initial. The door has been closed and bolted!

So it's been quite a popular thing for guys to "jump ship" to NJI in the past?

If only I could get a copy of my CV under the nose of the folks doing the hiring!

V

What's the ceiling on the gulfstream?? I was flying the other night and something went over the top at FL450 and it was civilian. nice.

I think a couple dozen folks have done it. Not sure how "popular" that is, but if it's a mission you're interested in, it's certainly an option.

I believe the IV series tops out at FL450, while the V series will hit FL510. Even the small Citation Excel I fly can do FL450; not that uncommon for small jets. It's really nice being able to get over the weather and traffic; not so nice to wear the oxygen mask. :0

V,
I'm afraid the days of NJI hiring pilots are indeed over. The only way to get there now is through NJA. A minimum of 2 years with NJA before bidding over to NJI is required. But the good news for you is the minimums are lower coming from NJA. Not sure about the hiring status right now, but it is a great place to work. Good luck!

Actually no they aren't. You are still required to have 5000tt to come from NJA to NJI.

Nice try though.

Well, at least the pilots were smart enough to bring in the G scope in. The FA's failed to approve the LOA 44/57. Short sighted and a big mistake. Too bad.

haha, I missed the callsign and they didn't respond to me trying to contact them which would have been great trying to get centre when out of VHF and the HF is playing up in an unpressurised commander between alice springs and adelaide.

It was N registered I know that much and doing .85

510 eh, nice!

So do you guys at NJI have any complaints?

work 7 days home for 7, nice aeroplane, see the world. Sounds like a good spot to be.

V

Pack has one complaint. NC State sucked again this year:angryfire Then again, so did my Alma Mater :uzi:

I met a NJA Citation X guy in my GV initial who was moving over to NJI and the V and had great things to say about both companies. The ability to fly high and fast in the 5 series is great. Can't think of the last time I asked for a wx deviation in cruise. Can't wait for my next trip down under. Beautiful place and nice folks.

Before that starts something "A" guys have to go to the "IV" first.

There are seat-locks and equipment locks, fences, corrals ah..whips and chains first.

I am sure that someone with more knowledge of this than me will spell it out for us. There is something like a 5 year equipment lock before they can move to the "V Fleet"....Fleet is a supossitory right???

and i don't think any NJA guys have gone to the V yet. I know because I've been trying like crazy.

You are partly correct.

It is a 5 year "Gulfstream Equipment Lock", however only 2 of those years are to be served in the G IV. Should you so desire you can bid out of the G IV after 2 yrs into the G V.

The 5 yr equipment lock is after full integration, not sure if it is in place now or not. If its not in place now then it is only a 3 yr Gulfstream Equipment lock in the G IV only.

And Fences, corrals, cattle prods and whips will be working both ways.

Anything to get away from Wolf eh? :)

Uh.... that would be the other way around. That dude is a "Pelican" style pilot.

  • He sits where you cant grab him all day squawking and making noise.
  • He sits around begging to be fed (Indian/seafood are his favorites)
  • And you basically have to throw rocks at him to make him fly.
His shoes cost more than my overnight bag and everything in it. That makes nervous... Personally I think he's a drug dealer, but who's to say.
