How do the World Guys like the 744s?

Any World guys hear anything or have any experiences on the new 744s? I think I saw one at JFK a few days ago and it looked nice. Do you have 2 of them now, and are they on specific runs?

Just one on line, the other is in conversion at the moment. The guys I know on it like flying them. They have had the usual teething problems when a new airframe is introduced.

At the moment the one that is online is contracted to Lufthansa flying FRA-DKR-VCP-CWB-FRA.

It seems that there is plenty of work as we heard that 3 different airlines all wanted the aircraft on contract.

I like it so far. Just finished IOE 10 days ago. My only complaint is the noise level in the cockpit at cruise. The MD-11 is much quieter.

Thanks for that, but as they say "I have the seniority." I am at the 50% mark at DL, and MOSTLY LIKELY I will have a choice when the time is right. We'll see.....

Yes the Whale is noisier up front than most, except the FK28. I think that was winner for noise.

That is NOT what I have heard......the cargo ops aint doing that great, and some 744 time will be thown at ATL for certain cities.

Nothing, my statement had to do with the General anticipating a windfall flying A/C that NWA brought to the merger, at the expense of the NWA pilots.

yeah,right.......another 1997 hire heard from. Reserve Captain prior to merger,reserve Capt post merger. 47 percent old list;57 percent new list. Not only that, we now inherited 3200 bitter,old co-workers who seems to think the world owes them a living just because they chose the wrong airline and had a miserable carer as a result. Where is that windfall again ?? I seemed to have missed it.

Windfall? Richard Anderson wants no fences, and DTW has some markets that have shrunk thanks to the Auto industry problems. ATL has some routes that will require larger aircraft. Can you put these pieces together? Can you? We will have an SLI by Nov 20th, and in a couple years our certificates will merge. At that time, anyone can bid anywhere. I bet you are jealous. What a quagmire you have at USAir. Man, enjoy the Cactus callsign too.
