Yes.

Good man.

Will do fine. Like anyone else who's taken a stand on a issue (or issues), someone will dislike him.

Has good mediation skills.

He was an LEC rep, then MEC S/T during our strike, and then Duane's E.A.

Opposed Age 65.

He's been sold to the UAL pilots as a "command pilot" with experience in the 747, 757 and 727 and a Thunderbird driver.

Yet, he's only typed in the 75/76. What the hell was he a "cAPTAIN" in at NWA, then? No medical, either.

I hear he was Skipper of the Sick List. Hope he had a MD's note.

The first thing he's going to do is restore the UAL ALPA contract and make all pilots whole. Next, he will announce that there will be no furloughs and that hiring will resume so as to increase ALPA ranks and overall dues income. Then, he will turn the controls of day-to-day flight ops over to the UAL MEC and take a hands-off approach to manangement, basically doing what the MEC tells him to do.

That will all happen in his first month if he's a true ALPA pilot and trade unionist.

Sincerely,

B. Franklin

"Command pilot" is a USAF term. Remember from when you were in the military?

The B757.

No medical, either.

While you were checking, did you notice if one of his testicles was hanging lower than the other?

Good Grief! He just had surgery. Should probably go back under the knife again, though...he's got a SoCentralRain wart on his a$$ now!

I hear he was Skipper of the Sick List. Hope he had a MD's note.

He had OnStar.

Sorry, pal. Wrong lifetime. My point is, why on earth would UAL management boast of his military experience when he's not in the military? Again, sorry, but flying for Uncle Sam is not the same. "Command pilot" means nothing to the UAL pilot group. Especially if he's not current as a "C"aptain.

Happy to see him go under the knife to get that wart on his ass removed. Hope he brings a note.

Because it is unique. It also speaks to his background before he flew airliners. Some people seem to find that interesting. The recently-named MSP Chief Pilot's announcement noted that he'd been a pilot for a regional airline.

Again, sorry, but flying for Uncle Sam is not the same.

How do YOU know?

And just to keep it in context...he's not being placed on the seniority list, or being assigned to a flying job. He's gonna be a VP. A suit. A "middle manager".

Since you don't speak for the UAL pilot group, how about we pretend you didn't type that?

They listed some snippets of his background. I provided a few more. When your boner for him dies down and the blood gets back up to your head...post some reasons why you think they made a good/bad choice.

Howard is a suit. A "flip top". You know, as long as they pay him, he will flip the top of his open. They will pour in whatever effluent they wish. He will let that flow until they call him back for a refill. From management's point of view, that is always a good choice. For the pilots, not so much. That said, he is no worse than any other tool management would employ.

True! As you and I both know from experience...some "suits" actually apply some leadership to their duties...while others refuse to.

Pete Moore interviewed for the job too.
So did Jeff Carlson.

I'd prefer to have a pilot (as opposed to a clinical psychologist, as we had at NWA for a few years) as the VP of Flt Ops...particularly a pilot who's been an ALPA leader during a strike.
