What poll shows that we are pleased with our MEC?!!!!??? The people who voted are the tool bags who are GUNG HO for the union...the ones who didnt vote and who would have voted they are displeased with the MEC are like me.....Displeased and dissastified with they way things are done with both ALPA(O) and our MEC.

It's random telephone polling, my friend. Not just some internet poll that only the supporters bother to do. This information is usually not released publicly, but I doubt the MEC will mind me giving just this one metric from a Wilson Poll done before I left the MEC. The question was asked "overall, how would you rate the performance of your PCL MEC?" The result was quite favorable, and this result was consistent in every poll we did for the years I was on the MEC: 90% of the members responded either "very good" or "mostly good." Only 1.5% echoed your apparent opinion of "not good at all." This was a poll of 200 random PCL pilots. A different sample group is taken in each poll, and all of them are consistent. Phil Comstock, the President of the Wilson Polling Center, was always very impressed with our numbers on MEC support and militancy. There is no doubt that a very strong majority of the PCL group is satisfied with the performance of their MEC. You are a small minority.

ALPA....

WONDERFUL medical branch that will help fight for your case and be there when you're in need for getting a first class medical. They'll answer questions, and work with you if you need to get a waiver or SODA.

WONDERFUL resources like the above mentioned medical, and protection from management when they decide to unfairly terminate you. Or if you are involved in an incident/accident, they can help you.

So things like that of ALPA are great.

But what about national unity?

What about their bargaining strength (or lack thereof)?

What about the question of which group is looking out for whose interest? Especiallly these days, (and actually ever since 9/11), it seems every unit is just worried about getting stuff for themselves.

Just my 2 cents.

I'd rather be ALPA than not, but I won't pretend like ALPA is this perfect flawless fairy (which it isn't).

The above is correct. Upwards of 90% support the Pinnacle ALPA MEC. (I support our MEC).

SE has the b@lls to put up with PT, CS, and the rest of the Circus gang.

What have they done for us on the regional level.....NOTHING. PNCL ALPA SUCKS. SCREW THEM.....I WANT OUT.

Come on they've approved a work week of 6 consecutive days with one 24 hour off minimum, 16 hour duty days, and 10 days off a month, and IF we're ever terminated for no reason, we get to fight it. That's got to count for something.

I am not saying we should operate without a union...I am simply saying ALPA SUCKS

In other words you don't get involved you just sit on the sidelines and point fingers?

ALPA is the vehicle available for your pilot group to deal with management, how well it can function depends on how well everyone gets invloved and works together. Unfortunatly, some pilots think it's all about what they think and nothing else counts.

Um, once you're off probation, you cannot be terminated without cause. And, the company must follow the proper procedures if they terminate a pilot, which are laid out in the contract (albeit in sections nobody reads). If the company terminated a pilot without cause, and without regard to the contract, it would be a slam-dunk case to get him his job back.

I worked for two cargo companies before this place and I can tell you without a second thought that ALPA is great. I am not saying they do things perfectly, but I have seen no union, I have been to a place where no one stood for you and upgrades went to the cheapest to train, not the ones who were senior. My medical insurance and my union dues together are under 100 dollars a month. At my last job, a small 135 carrier it was 150 for crappy health insurance. So to all the whiney people at our company; you are right its not perfect, but it is wayyyy better than the alternative.

If you really want to get technical, it's 1 calendar day off in 7, and 15.5 hr duty time unless pilot agrees to 16.

It's not the best. We all know that. But ALPA definitely helps as opposed to not having ALPA. Pinnacle is notorious for 'fire pilots first, ask questions later.' Only the union/ALPA is able to fight and get your job back.

You are one of those guys who thinks they can sit back and enjoy the world that someone else provides them, aren't you? You expect this this for a measly 1.95% of your already pitiful income, how sad.

If you don't bother to vote and are so out of touch that you don't even know that the Wilson Center polls our pilot group every month (you probably don't get called because you never provided contact info) then you have NO RIGHT to minimize the efforts of others.

As someone else asked before, why are you so disappointed in your MEC? Give some specific issues. If you can't even come to grips with what you don't like then you personify the moniker, "rebel without a clue."

I think he is talking about TSA.

Actually, that's a very good point.... and a sad commentary at the same time.

I remember you! You are the malcontent, with poor effort and a bad attitude, that sat at the end of everyone's bench in sports and complained because you didn't get to play--then, it was the Coach Sucks or this team Sucks! Look in the mirror! Do you like what you see in the middle of your forehead?

Everybody brings this up and it seems to be a good point. Flyer, how many times have you been fired and had ALPA get your job back for you?

Pinnacle ALPA has salvaged dozens of careers.
