Guys my sis and her hubby are regulars on UAL out of SNA DEN SEA and various east cost destinations. They both do 2/3 legs a week and for the last 6 weeks or so they haven't completed a trip without major issues. They know all about weather but some of the stuff they are telling me is just unreal. Whats up ? The place can't be that poorly run..

It HAS been for quite some time now....
They are to be avoided like the plague, and I've done so since BEFORE 9/11. There was not a SINGLE time ever that I flew on them where the flight actually went as it should. Does your sis and hubby have NO CHOICE in who they airline? FF miles are meaningless, and since they travel together as spouses, I'm guessing they don't have a company making those decisions for them...so WHY do they even fly them????? Those cities aren't lacking in choices. I do just about anything to not fly UA, but now even my company rarely uses them...guess they need us at our planes.

Not that easy. They travel individually and the have homes in SoCal and DEN and offices in DEN and SEA. F9 is nice but a bit restrictive on the east coast stuff. Example they use to go DEN BDL and thats gone now...Plus the hubby is an every 4/6 weeks to JP guy. BTW they never have trouble getting their FF miles.

fly southwest then. That kills me- but it's true. Noone's happy at ual. The CEO's are irresponsible. No leadership. Most gate agents are way overworked and take it out on the passengers. They don't like crews and throw them under the bus all the time. all the emp. groups pitted against each other and the pilot group divided among themselves in every way= narrow v wide, senior v junior, major v regional.... and it shows in performance....

fly southwest... anyone who thinks that flying can't be enjoyable hasn't consistently flown WN. Commuting on them is crazy-they treat me MUCH better than my own airline-- and it's amazing how the same delays that affect all airlines, when handled by their crews- lead to much happier pax.

I go back to the DAL ceo quote-- "you can't run an airline with pissed off employees"

The UAL board is completely failing it's shareholders by allowing this executive team to keep their job. Much less, letting them take so much $$ from the coffers. It's an american problem right now.

United is that poorly staffed though. They are trimming too much.

Though I agree with the "Delta CEO Quote," I take great exception to the rest. SW may be great as an employer, but as a passenger I dread those flights ALMOST as much as UAL. The surroundings are akin to everything I imagine the Greyhound?jerry Springer audience to be, and the whole experience is just annoying. Not to mention leg"room" so miniscule I want to chop my legs off midway through the flight (which would be about the 10th stop). No thanks.

For being "The voice of reason" you certainly are an idiot.

Lets talk about leg room fool. Unless your traveling First Class or Business class there is NO comparison. LUV wins hands down.

The boarding issue has for the most part been "resolved" or greatly improved. Much more relaxing. Lets see what else.

Happy employees vs ???
On time flights??
Not getting SCREWED on last minute tickets purchased
Not getting $$$ and 100$$ ti death.
Flights NOT being canceled.

Anything else you would like to add idiot?

Your exaggeration about LUV does not hold much credibility. Perhaps providing a fair assessment would better serve your point.

(current position SWA/FO)

I guess I couldn't have been "fair" or "credible" in my assessment, what, with not working there and all.....:erm:

Ahh skybus..you must not be real familiar with FI's own village idiot. You want some entertainment, go look at the posts this tool box puts up. He is an angry, bitter little man. When I first noticed his response to some issues on here, I thought the same thing as you.. what the f is wrong with this clown. Now... he has quite the entertainment value. The guy is a heart attack waiting to happen and i for one would hate to see him leave! :D

I agree with the atmosphere, but not on the legroom. Unless you're paying extra for United's "Coach Plus" or whatever the hell they're calling it, United has less legroom than SWA. (UAL is typically 31" in Coach; sometimes 32". SWA is 32-33".) Sad as it is, that 1-2" makes a big difference in comfort.

I detest riding on UAL, to the point that I route all those frequent-flier miles to US Airways.

SWA has revamped their gate areas and they are much nicer than other airline's including places to plug in laptops and cell phones and often having new large lounge chairs. The legrrom is no worse than coach on most other airlines and is usually more. The seats are all leather instead of that nasty old cloth material that other airlines use. The F/A's are always walking thru the aisles checking to see what people need instead of hiding behind a curtain the whole flight.
