That is a broad bush you are using.... I know many "Union" (read previous ALPA members) that now work for non-union airlines, due to their airline going under (i.e; Aloha, ATA, and others).

You advocate kicking these guys (and gals) while they are down?

Skipper

It's not about "kicking someone while they're down," it's simply a matter of not extending a union-negotiated benefit to non-union pilots. Look, I frequently gave the jumpseat to non-union pilots when I was a Captain. We had jumpseat agreements with them, so no big deal as long as they didn't go into some anti-union rant. But if a union wants to make it official policy to only allow unionized pilots on their jumpseats, then I don't see a problem with that.

TZSkipper is right. I know a number of former Aloha guys, including my former classmate who are now flying for Virgin America. Sorry, but ALPA carriers that offer any sort of a livable wage aren't hiring... actually they're furloughing. Time to put down the union koolaid and start looking at reality.

As Tejas said... crossing a picket line, you'd have a case for banning scabs from jumpseats.

Taking a job at a nonunion carrier, especially when your union job disappeared, and then having your former "brothers" stab you in the back by denying you jumpseats... with friends and brothers like that, who needs enemies?

As expected, after some open and honest debate, the resolution failed. It garnered exactly one (1) vote in favor.
Thankfully the process that enables an individual ALPA member to have his voice heard, despite the topic, was honored.
Regards.

Go Alaska.

Good for you guys. Finally sick of getting screwed by borderline scabs? It's one thing to give bush pilots a lift and another to help those dirt bags who are driving us all into the ground. I hope that it passes with flying colors.

Please tell me this is fake. Copied from another site.

Didn't Horizon suspend jumpseats with United over their policy a few years back. I'm remembering they did and it worked in the end.

That's a big negative.

You can write....you just can't read, I guess!

Just as I've always said....take it to your LEC for a vote. when your peers vote, you find out pretty quick if they are in your corner....

...or if you are way out in left field
