Are you sure XJT UNDERBID SkyWest for that flying? If I remember correctly, SKY was prohibited from flying anything but UAX out LAX, at that time.

They underbid Skywest INC....Skywest was using ASA to do the flying....Skywest could do the flying with ASA at the time...The XJT bid was low....Jerry doesn't get flying just to get flying.....it has to make sense financially....

Besides, are there not some 120's doing at risk flying for UAL? Does that make sense?

It's pretty obvious that Bornhorst president of DCI, wold like to consolidate DCI carriers to 4. After all it was stated when he traded jobs with Selvaggio that he had two major objectives:
1. Create a more seamless operation with Delta
2. Reduce DCI carriers from 8 to 4.

We know ASA, Skywest and Comair aren't going anywhere. My guess on the 4th would republic. They have had a quality product, for the most part, since day one of the delta operation.

Also, delta stated they are having problems rejecting some of the leases which implies they own the airplanes they are trying to reduce. That in turn implies those airplanes are on the property of comair, skywest/asa, given the fact they renogotiated the leases on the a/c they owned during bankruptcy I would guess the comair '50 leases are exptremely cost effective. I would guess skywest/asa pick up the flying and Comair picks up some of the backfill in ATL.

Nobody is winning in these times. The question is more who is going to lose less on sep. 1.
 
So the SKYW investors had inside details as to how much XJT bid? You trust something like that from an investor call?

From the XJT press release today....

"With the losses we were experiencing from our Delta pro-rate flying combined with our ability to return aircraft to the lessor, this termination of service is in the best interest of our company," said Jim Ream, ExpressJet president and chief executive officer.

Jerry would have never done this deal on a "pro-rate" basis....It's a money loser....XJT did it to keep the planes flying that it lost from CAL....better to lose less money with a pro-rate deal with DAL then to park the airplanes....

Jerry doesn't sign money losing deals....XJT low balled the RFP.....

That was always my understanding of the situation... So who's the next low baller to open a temporary LAX base?
 
NO one has the financial resources to low ball an LAX RFP "to get a foot in the door" and last long enough to get a paying contract in the future. XJet did, but lost too much money doing the "low ball" and branded flying at the same time.

Not to bash republic, but that's not entirely true. When DAL switched from CMR to republic for the CVG-JFK route republic was leaving so many bags behind. Seems that the ERJ cargo bin doesn't fit to many oversized international bags. So DAL was having to send those bags to Europe on Air France at the tune of $1200 per bag. Doesn't matter if you lift is free if you leave $6000+ worth of bags behind on every flight. That is why CMR got that route back very quickly. The bean counter in ATL got tired of having to buy more beans to count the money flying out the door.
 
Its sad to read these pathetic remarks about who is going to pick up this flying. What a bunch of vultures you are. It should be a sad day for us all to see the best paid pilots in our segment of the industry taking a blow like this. Its no wonder we all work for the pitiful scraps left behind in the wake of industry turmoil.

And the funny thing is that the vultures are the idiots at majors that flew for regionals before. Wow.
