When, lately have I been preaching anything? I've long since given up on this God forsaken industry. With ALPA and APA sold out on Scope, it's over anyway... I'm going to get mine! Darn right! I"m not going to jump on any more grenades pal!

Also, Skybus didn't do ******************** to anyone... 5 airplanes flying in and out of PGD or PSM to CMH weren't even a factor.. ASA and Comair now, they've grown by about the same amount as DAL's mainline has shrunk!

You just did it AGAIN...According to you Skybus wasn't part of the problem but you think ASA and CMR were.....

So let's see so far you have blamed ALPA, APA, and the regionals.....but going to work for Skybus wasn't part of the problem....

We all created this mess....including YOU.....

*** THREAD HIJACKING IN PROGRESS ***

Street captains - the only one I see advertising for street captains is Go-Jet.

Maybe some Go-Jet guys can shed the light on true conditions there and whether or not they have a difficult time commuting, etc.

From what I see on APC, it looks like they make more money than TSA. While I don't like how they came about, didn't ALPA lose the single-carrier petition?

Someone nailed it right on the money - it's rather difficult to go from making 100k a year flying a Boeing to be lumped with a fresh, starry-eyed ALL ATPS or COMAIR Academy 300 hour grad for that RJ gig making $22000/year. Can't really fault the guy who wants to cushion the blow by looking for that street captain gig.

Skybus didn't start the slash and burn, and nickel and dime model, they just tried to capitalize on it and upfront make it clear that this was their model. Terrible management that stole the company form it's founder (he's trying to raise funds to re-start it) was the reason it failed.

Terrible management? At an airline?!? Get out.

Welcome to the raided side of the pool with the rest of us.

Thats why I think any pilot should always have some skill or degree that leaves them a choice, so that they are not someone who goes from top of the ladder, back down to FO on food stamp pay because they left themselves no other options.

There are certainly others ways to make a living that pay better than that, and that actually allow a life. I can just imagine how miserable and dejected a new FO would be, that is a former heavy captain, and might be a challenge to spend time in the cockpit with too.

God forbid, there is a world outside of aviation, and definitely other ways to make money.

Great post. I couldn't agree more.

I am heir to the throne of a small European country. My socks cost more than your life is worth.

I have a two story trailer, a jetski that rides 9 people and 47 pit bulls.

But I fly for fun. Sorry if you suckers have to do this for a living. I use my pay to buy gas for my 600 foot yacht

Sheesh, it's gettin DEEP in here

You know what I'm gonna do? I'm gonna get myself a 1967 Cadillac Eldorado convertible, hot pink, with whale skin hubcaps and all leather cow interior and big brown baby seal eyes for headlights. Yeah! And I'm gonna drive around in that baby at 115 miles an hour, getting 1 mile per gallon, sucking down quarter pounder cheeseburgers from McDonald's in the old-fashioned non- biodegradable Styrofoam containers!

Now what was the chorus to that song again?

Even if I had eleventy three kajillion dollars, I'd be humiliated if the world heard me bragging about flouncing around with the latest "That's Hot" luggage. 20K watches? Wow.

I bet you can't ride on all the adult rides at Disney, can you? Then again, your wealth and toys are probably blinging a Swatch in a busted Civic.

I'm an A$$HOOOOOLE!!!!!! Yo-de-oh!

Cause I like flying for a living... having independent wealth isn't the same as having a job.

edit: Like I said, if you think I'm BSing you, pm me your email and I'll forward pics of some of my toys, including $20K watches, Custom guitars, a Mercedes, a BMW, and a $8500 mountain bike but to name a few things.. I'm not trying to turn this into a show and tell, but you all seem to question my value as a result of my jobs.. Heck! I'll bet the set of luggage I just got to travel with costs more than some of your cars. If you want to question my value as a result of working at Skybus, fine.. so I'm going to see you and raise you.. what's YOUR net worth? ;)

Net worth = millions

Human worth = zero

Thanks for the insight into your posh lifestyle. I guess you can't enjoy it though since you have to spend your time here justifying your existence to strangers. I hope you took your SkyBust crew tags off your fancy-boy luggage because if someone who read your post happened to see it during a walkaround then it might just have a feces-laden surprise in it by the time it got to baggage claim.

Awe... do I detect a bit of anger towards my bragging about the money I have, and all my neat toys? Ugly, ain't it??

WELL... THAT'S THE SAME THING AS WHEN GUYS RUB THEIR NICE JOBS IN YOUR FACE AND CALL YOUR COMPANY AND YOUR FELLOW PILOTS SCUM OF THE EARTH BECAUSE IN MANY CASES THIS IS ALL THEY CAN GET!!!!

Like I said, most of us were hired and worked for the "Big" majors.. heck I was hired by American back when it was #1 and the job to go to... But for what ever reason, guys feel the need to come on these anonymous boards and rub it in that they're the lucky one's... well, payback is a bitch!

Um, I have dated guys like you (albeit briefly - VERY breifly. By my own choice. lol) Wow, you have issues.

My guess: this is the new version of the old "small watch syndrome."

By the way? Nobody is rubbing anyone's nose in their "nice jobs" - it is an integrity issue. Pay closer attention next time.

A bit of advice, FWIW: I wouldn't go around showing off that chip on your shoulder if you expect to get laid! Women don't like men who are that insecure.
