Fine, probation for wild airliner incident

Wednesday, July 2, 2008

A woman has pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault in connection with an incident on a San Francisco-bound plane during which she yelled and cursed at her fiance and passengers and had to be restrained, court records show.
Anne-Marie Kivinen, 38, was sentenced Monday to two years of probation for assaulting a flight attendant last week aboard a Virgin Atlantic flight that originated in London. She had originally been charged with interference with a flight crew, which is a felony.
At a hearing in San Francisco, U.S. Magistrate Bernard Zimmerman also fined her $1,000. As part of the terms of her probation, Kivinen cannot drink if she flies in the United States on a commercial airliner.
The incident happened June 23, when Kivinen was restrained after screaming, cursing, kicking and head-butting her fiance, who was attempting to calm her after she began screaming at another passenger, according to an affidavit by FBI Special Agent Peter Adduci.
About 45 minutes after being restrained, she managed to get her hands and feet free and intentionally stepped on and ground her foot on the hand of a flight attendant who was trying to resecure her, authorities said.

Sounds like we need to update our methods in restraining these folks. It seems like they always get out after a few minutes.

Taser, then tranquilizer injection.

Good to see the courts really take these seriously. ......What a joke.

If I were the flight attendant, I would follow up with a civil lawsuit against Ms. Kivinen. Maybe on the order of about $100 million.

So will she get a sticker like a UM but it will say ND for No Drinks...how would a flight attendant know? Or the bar tender in the airport bar? That may be the stupidest thing I've ever read.

That sounds like an ex girlfriend of mine. At least they didn't have any china or vases for her to throw!

I thought jetBlue just made the "undesirables" stay in the lav for the duration of the flight.

I live for stuff like this. A good BITCH slap to said subject with captain's authority should make a good show. I'll bitch slap or bitch insult any passenger, any day. I've done it before, I'll do it again. No repercussions yet suffered. Don't F*** with my airplane! I'm not in the business of making a profit. I'm in the business of transporting people safely. I don't worry about the money, the PR or the company. I worry about my airplane and my crew.

LOL...this post is priceless. Of course you're "not in the business of making a profit".

You're in the business of getting butt f$%cked by management.
