How immature and selfish it is to wish for Mesa to liquidate. Do any of you know how many people, not just pilots, will be out of jobs that put food on the table?

While I wish the best for the pilots and other employees at Mesa, this industry really needs to rid it's self of Mesa.

Seriously, it wasn't too long ago that Mesa was on the cover of a Magazine as the "airline of the year." And why? Not because their employees were happy, but because their investors were happy, the company was making money at the expense of it's employees, and it seemed like a "successfull business model."

Karma is finally catching up with JO, and now is the time for the final blow, yes, I mean liquidation. Unfortunately, if it doesn't happen soon, you never know... there's a possibility that JO might use another one of his nine lives.

Work with me here. There's a slowdown of hiring at most airlines, a couple thousand highly qualified pilots newly unemployed, and an influx of students who have sold themselves on the idea that they don't have to instruct, or do any other kind of time building job because they can always "just go to Mesa" if all else fails.

If JO can hold off chapter 7 long enough, he might be able to reorganize and rebuild, and go back to saying that his business model is successful, they just "had a bad year." And Mesa can continue to drag industry standards down.

Again, while I wish the best for Mesa employees.... the company and everything it stands for must not be upheld as a role model for successful business, and complete failure seems to be the only true way to get the point across.

Newsflash: Airlines are a business. Most of them are OWNED by shareholders. Like all owners, their purpose is to make MONEY. That is the ONLY purpose, the ONLY point, the ONLY definition of a successful business. You'd know that if you ever owned one.

I'm sorry that you think that the purpose of any public corporation is to provide jobs and make employees happy. Some do, and that's all well and good, but it's not their primary function.

Answer: You don't like it? Pick where you work. It's a free country.

Oh . . . Anyone who thinks that Mesa going out of business is going to make one whit of difference to "the industry" or other pilots is just kidding themselves.

90% of the griping about Mesa is by Aloha/Independence guys with revenge fantasies sprinkled with a smattering of regional lift guys who lost some of "their" flying. The guys who admit it might be petty . . . but at least they're hones.

Guys who try to put some "greater meaning" on their avowed wish to see 5000 people out on the street during an economic downturn make me sick.

And what was the purpose of Mesa/Go! selling tickets for a dollar?? Did they make money? It's just not that simple. It appears you are.. You must be sick all the time.

Oh ya I forgot. JO was going to bring local familys together. Make more people fly with low fares and not make money. Lets talk SIMPLE

Nobody wants to see employees hurt. Except JO . He sure didn't mind using confidential information to ruin how many lives in Hawaii?

I don't , however, have any sympathy for folks who have hired on at mesa with less than a 1000 hrs. They were just looking to bypass their peers with an easier road. J O needs to go so that this industry can at least be a career.

JA makes money and SKW is a decent place to work.

Well with everything thats going on now, you might be stuck at a regional for a couple of more years then you thought.

So, go to a Regional that has a okay QOL and a good working contract. Believe me it is well worth it.

I have been on both sides of the fence, and I can say even though I fly a Dash 8 for PDT, its nice to have a good working contract.

And yes, its hard to have smpathy for a company that has undercut so many airlines in the past.

Still having fun, and flying with some great people. Sorry to hear you had some medical issues. I hope if you miss flying you'll be back sometime in the future.

Two wrongs doesn't make it right. People in HI lost their jobs and by Mesa going under even more jobs will be lost. Btw, I seriously doubt Mesa will liquidate. Pilots should fly and leave the business side to those hired for those jobs. If you want to have a greater say, quit flying full-time and go into management at your airline.
