Alaska Airlines 737 evacuated on landing in Seattle
(AP Online Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge) SEATAC, Wash._Authorities have evacuated an Alaska Airlines 737 shortly after landing in Seattle because of smoke in the cockpit.
Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Mike Fergus says evacuation chutes were deployed on the taxiway Thursday and no major injuries were reported. The first officer in the cockpit was treated for smoke inhalation.
Fergus says the pilot of Alaska Flight 529 from Los Angeles reported a potential nose gear problem while approaching Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. But everything appeared OK on a fly-by past the airport control tower. He says the smoke appeared after the plane was on the ground.
The plane was carrying 103 passengers and a crew of five.
Anyone have "the deets"?
