On the overnight for Day 6.. get to go home tomorrow but we flew 33.2 hours in 6 days on the XL this week....

Take it for what its worth!

I'm at CS and had 41.7 last tour, 46.2 before that and 38.2 before that but week before that 13.4 (mx) My average is just over 34 hours. For some reason I used to think NJ guys worked harder.

Funny, I have been tracking my tours (hours and legs) since Nov because I was curious if I was working harder than my buddys I left behind in the U-boat. They keep calling the XL a slave ship. So here are the stats from the last 9 tours, dating back to November.
hours/legs
18.0/11
14.0/9
14.1/11
12.4/9
15.1/10
17.5/11
19.3/14
21.9/10
17.0/9

4 after midnights, 2 resulting in comp days.

day 5 of 7 I am on 8.7/9

Another month and we are through the busy season. Not to bad.

How about 31 hours

In 5 days in an Army Citation?

No missions! Just screwing around!

Go wherever we want.

We are becoming authorities in the art of the American BBQ.

We have to fly the flying hour program and all but me and my pal are grounded.

13 more months and back to Netjets!

Looking forward to it thanks to all the great improvements S.U. has made since I went on miitary duty.

Rock on NJASAP!

B,
You need to leave the state of texas and come to Carolina and try some of their bbq..
Cant think of a reason to visit FBG?

When you make it back to NJA Ill buy you some beer, not as good as it was at ETIE but not bad. At least its cold.

GUys what about duty? Been averaging over 80 hours of duty per tour? Last tour had 5 12 hour days of stand by at the airport. I d rather fly 7 hours with 10 hours of duty than 12 hours duty at the fbo.

Buddy of mine had a 17 day off line for the month with a 125 hours of duty. (3rd yr Major fo)

Where I had 169 hours of duty with almost 15 days off, and 44 hours flying total for the month.

Who is working harder? I think we need to strive for more time off and more vacation for guys after yr ten.

That has to be the record or close to it. I thought I had it for a while at 35.6/7 but that may take the cake. Hopefully they are feeding you and putting you up at nice hotels because that is a seriously fatiguing schedule.

Thank you for your service, BUT... little disturbing to hear this when our government has successfuly spun this nation into an unwanted mega trillion dollar war, and a tanked recessed economy... where unemployment is up over 5% and Gas is close to $4 a gallon... how much does the army (I MEAN THE TAX PAYERS, MY WIFE AND I) pay for gas for these non mission trips?

40.4 in the GIV a couple of weeks ago.

That was brutal.

Well now that you mention it?

Av8tor,

"Thank you for your service,".

Youre welcome, thanks for your support.

BUT... little disturbing to hear this when our government has successfuly spun this nation into an unwanted mega trillion dollar war, and a tanked recessed economy... where unemployment is up over 5% and Gas is close to $4 a gallon...

Would you rather the radical muslim factions just blow the crap out of us at there leisure? When the "east" takes over our life won't be that different if we comply. Your wifes life will change radically. They are not gonna stop, better get that through your head.

how much does the army (I MEAN THE TAX PAYERS, MY WIFE AND I) pay for gas for these non mission trips?

Same as anybody else (we do get somewhat of a discount when we fuel at FBO's with Govt. Contract fuel (which we exclusively do). We are so scrutinized by govt (taxpayers) oversight that every mission we due these days seems to be microscopically evaluated to see if we are abusing the tax payers money, misusing govt aircraft. So, pure training missions, no questons, we are flying the proper profiles, no room for scutiny from higher.

Our flying hour program is contracted to civilian maintenance. If we don't fly the flying hour program the contractor still gets paid. Then the taxpayer (you/me) gets pissed because we are not utilizing the flying hours. So our orders are to fly the flying hours.

Maybe saying we are out screwing around is a flagrant remark on my part. More accurately, I guess I would have to say that I have to pick where I will go everyday.

So, I'm more worried about my country being invaded by the oil producing countries then I am about the price we are paying burning oil products in army aircraft.

A few years back the navy radically cut their flying hours during the Clinton years. They saved millions in fuel! But then they lost it when 2 low time guys collided in a couple of Tomcats.

I disagree with your view point that us invading iraq has anything to do with the "east" taking over our lifestyle in the US.. But you and I can have that conversation over a beer on the road some day.....

As far as the comment I made.. You specifically stated that these flights were "NO MISSIONS, JUST SCREWING AROUND". I know that you have orders to fly the airplane and it is over your head, so I am not accusing you personally of wasting or unethical spending/flying.... Our government has always been this way..... The proverbial $100 pencil.... You know what I mean.. You need a pencil.. you call your guy to get you the pencil (who makes 50k a year) he calles his guy to get him the pencil (who makes 80k a year) he calles his guys who each make 100k a year) then they pay FED EX $300 to priority overnight your pencil to you!

This $100 dollar pencil is exactly what you are doing with your " civilian contracts" and "NO MISSION JUST SCREWING AROUND" flying on the Tax payer dime... It might be legal and justified in the governments eyes, but who the hell asked me?

Just a reminder.. we invaded the oil producing countries in the East unprovoked... 19 fundamentalist independent of any country invaded us.....

Still trying to figure out how being an artist in "american BBQ" is protecting me from the "evil doers"????

What should bother you is how many senators, governors, etc are doing this. Army guys need to fly somewhere for currency purposes. Politicos just do it because they can. For example, how much money did our bulldyke governor (Napolitano) waste in her 5 state campaign for Obama while neglecting her own state's problems?).

You obviously have never been there. I have, as a fighting man and can tell you that there ARE bad people in the world. You have no clue of the middle east mentality.

Unprovoked.
Did you not learn a THING in history class? The Cuban missile crisis? Pearl Harbor?
Waiting to be provoked is what nearly made us lose WWII. Remember, we were on the losing side for over 2 years in that one. All becasue we ignored the signs of an aggessive country because it was "none of our business". Read a book here, it's called "The Rape of Nanking". The parallels will will strike you between the eyes.

Still trying to figure out how Iraq has anything to do with the attack on 9/11 on the USA? I can remember when George W was running for his first term.. Right after he said that God wanted him to be president.:puke: .. he said at a debate that " he would not partake in nor condone Nation building.... The Iraq war was sold to the people on lies of WMD and then justified by Washington by saying they were "BUILDING A FREEE IRAQ" AKA NATION BUILDING..

Know quite a few army aviators, more to it.

He obviously has strong opinions (sounds like an anti-military liberal) and doesn't understand that while the FAA only wants 3 in 90, the military has a lot more for currency. My aircraft in the reserves requires 4 local proficiency sorties every six months (go up and fly approaches) and 4 overseas missions every six months... not to mention sims and all the ground requirements (shots, etc). And I'm a reservist, no idea what the active duty and some other aircraft require, but I know it's more then I have to do!

3 bounces in 90 days... that is how you stay current! Might not like it but its true

That is not true in the Army. That is what you were trying to make us believe isn't it?

Still trying to figure out how your left wing opinion on the War On Terror has anything to do with the title of this thread?

This is not a shot at all the nonmilitary types but I have to let it out. Why are you nonmilitary types, who have never seen the world other than on TV and the papers (both controlled by leftists) so vocal about everything when in fact you have NO real experience and have seen NOTHING?!!! You live in dreamland if you think that singing peace chants and remaining uninvolved will keep you safe. I will say it again, there are bad people in this world. And they will not rest, ever, until you are dead or subdued. Bush, Christians, etc are not your enemies. They are not the ones under the ideology that every single person will convert or be put to death. Get your heads out of your posteriors and see the real world. So far as us "invading" all these countries...by definition, an invasion requires taking over and establishing ownership and control. We have not done this, we have given the country back to its PEOPLE, not a one-man dictatorship that puts tens of thousands to death because they oppose him and his tyrannical rule. As soon as they can take care of themselves, we will be outta there. Now smoke some more pot and listen to more John Lennon tunes. Geez

Oh, and by the way...5 days and didn't turn an engine once except to stow the spoilers that the previous crew left up.

First of all, I do not appreciate your steriotype of me based on my views of our governments decsion to attack Iraq. I do support our military, and love our country. This all began when a statement was made that an Army Citation was flying around without a mission on fuel paid for by the people of America.

Finding the best BBQ in the US is not helping the effort in Iraq.

As far as the definition of invasion: I feel that we have taken over control of Iraq and if we leave CONTROL WILL BE LOST AND THE COUNTRY WILL FALL IN TO CIVIL WAR AND BECOME EVEN WORSE THAN IT IS NOW.. MAYBE ANOTHER SOMOLIA. This is just my opinion..

I support our troops in their efforts even though I dissagree with the invasion of Iraq. The troops are operating under orders from the higher powers and they can not control where their government sends them.

Remember ALQaida was not in Iraq until we opened the door for them and invited them in.

I dont dog you for being a right wing fanatical bible thumping christian fundamentalist out to get all the muslems and continuing the Crusades in the 21 centry.. so please do not dog me for my views!

we have given the country back to its PEOPLE,

The people are completly relient on the US military being in Iraq. YOu did not give the country to the people.. you gave it to the fundamental suni and sheites who will kill each other and have been killing eachother since the begining of time.

If the US pulls out it is only a matter of time before one of the tribes overtakes the other and empowers a dictator to rule the country just like Saddam. WHat then.. Do we perform "Shock and Awe" again?

This is not a shot at all the nonmilitary types...

Uhhh... OK.

Why are you nonmilitary types...
So... it is a shot at "all the nonmilitary types."

A lot of us have seen the world. Just because we haven't blown any of it up personally doesn't mean we haven't seen or experienced it. It is possible to vist a country, and even (gasp) live there, without being on a military mission.

I will say it again, there are bad people in this world.
Absolutely right. And they're going to carry right on killing each other, whether we're there to interfere or not. They've been doing it for thousands of years, and this temporary intervention by us is only going to delay the inevitable.

As soon as they can take care of themselves, we will be outta there.
Depends on what you mean by "take care of themselves." If you mean "not shoot each other anymore," it isn't going to happen. Are we going to occupy it forever, then?

First, no I am not a fundamentalist. But I believe in Jesus and that there are such things as right and wrong. Tell me how we are "continuing the crusades" when it is we Christians who are constantly being restricted (for example, lose tax exempt status if a priest mentions a candidates stance on abortion or other moral issues---apparently we are not even allowed to practice our faith inside our own church now?) And second, you spelled "muslims" and "century" wrong. I don't know how you can point the finger at unfortunate power struggles of over 1000 years ago and close your eyes to the violence and total hatred of today. You sound like the guy who protests the execution of a serial killer while driving your girlfriend to an abortion clinic. A little consistency would be nice.

5% unemployment?? ya gotta be kidding. that is Horrible. Everywhere I go, "HELP WANTED", "Employees needed", have you read the job section in ANY U.S. city lately? Where is this 5% located?

Granted, if you are laid off your current job, you can apply for assistance. If that assistance is more than the job in the paper, why take the job. I would be the same way. Why work when you can sit at home. It's not that the jobs are not there.

Lighten up.
