Challenger Door Loss in Flight

Well I was thinking one of my CRJ driver buds said theirs was a plug door and since it's a derivative of the Challenger...

Maybe the big CRJs..not sure, the 200 is like the Chanllengers...swing-down step door.

I believe some of the small-tube ERJs have a plug.
 
I just can't believe the door didn't hit anything major on the way out. Could have been REALLY bad. Reminds me of the UAL 747 in HNL. TC
 
It is a CL601, S/N 3013. Yes it is a very early model 601.
No, FedEx doors were never installed on the 601s, only the first 12 of the 600 models.
Not a plug-type door but a swing down door/step.
It was one of Aero Toy Store's aircraft but that was a while back.

After the aircraft rotated, they banked left and the door opened and departed the aircraft striking an antenna under the fuselage and breaking it. The door continued under the fuselage and struck the right wing. I have not seen the pics from this even, but from what was reported to me is that the wing damage is somewhat minor.

It was in GJT at Weststar for some minor maintenance (Misc lamps inop and leaking wheel assy).
I originally heard that it was in for a 300 or 600 hour insoection, but that was not why it was there.
 
Whats up with the FAA saying that it was a CL 60? And it was a 20 pax aircraft! It surley couldnt be a reporter mistake:D . Although I have learned allot about the feds lately............
 
Ya, I heard that same thing on a news report...

I just look at it as if they just do not know or have not done the research.

That may be its certified occupancy limit. (not how many seats it had)

I am speaking from memory, but I think even the Beechjet was certified for 12 or 13. I once saw a CL-60 with 16 seats in the back set up for a shuttle operation.

Has there been any other issues with the door on CL-60's?
