How much more can you redo all the contracts in Ch 11? I can't imagine how much worse a Delta contract would look like after this trip thru BK.

Of course the company would never offer a job to folks for the summer flying to then furlough, but as of right now I don't see the furloughs.

We have FIRM orders for 6 more 777-LRs arriving by March 2009. Additionally, 5 (I think) 737-700s arrive this Fall. Although 15 - 20 planes will be parked by the Summer (probably MD-88s), the staffing on 6 777-LRs at 19 crews per jet and 7 per 737-700 is more than the decrease of the 7 crews per jet on the MDs going away.

If the company felt they wouldn't need the pilots, they could have cancelled classes immediately. The pilots hired in May wouldn't be productive until July; by then the Summer flying is staffed.

Now, should there be an announcement to park more than 15-20 all bets are off.

Please don't introduce any facts into this General Lee lovefest. BTW, think of how much less crap Delta would endure on this board if only he new how to modulate his man pleaser.

The mgt at the legacies hasn't exactly been known for their foresight.

It seems to me that they really don't want to be proactive. They try to go full-tilt to keep every last airplane, city, etc. to preserve market share. Only until obligations can't be met they stand up and say 'Um, looks like we got a problem here.'

Boy....I think we all saw this coming. When do the furloughs start. Hire until you fourlough. Well, the hiring just stopped.

Maybe the company is getting an idea of how nasty their first quarter results are going to be.

You are Clown! If I do recall, DAL was going to hire 400-500 this year and with the last class in May and 100 per class, that looks to be about 500 +/- a few.

I know you hate DAL, but get your facts straight there toad!

Too Funny! CNN also reported that General Lee is recovering well after almost dying while being treated by a Voodo Doctor in RIO.

Gee, that's really too bad. If he'd been staying in Rochester, Minnesota, he could have gone to the Mayo.

Nu

This is what their initial plan was for the year. S few months ago they upped the number. They have gone back to the plan they had late last year.
Expect to see DAL open the window later this year again if things do not go to far south.
They are stopping hiring now. They prefer to be a little short for the summer than fat and have to furlough is things get really bad.
One the issue of A/C There are some 88 and 757's that are up for new leases. If they cannot get the least rates that they want the will dump them. Their are options to pick up other aircraft in the near future to replace them if need be.
There will be a slight reduction in fleet size, but it is not permanent.

Hey, Best of Luck to everyone at Delta and here's to coming out of the next year stronger than in the past. You folks at DAL have always treated me very well on my commute and I really appreicate it and wish you all well! Cheers, klr

Just saw on CNN a story covering an ambulance racing to the DAL layover hotel in RIO.

Nah, I was in Copenhagen this week. Kinda cold. Rio is coming up though. Most of this Summer I will do pretty much Europe exclusively. We start a daily ATL-Athens-ATL 3 day, and also will resume flights to Vencie, Italy. I think I will be flying those. Yeah.

As far as hiring goes, we were told only a few more classes this Spring, and then a resumption at the end of the year when we start getting 6 777LRs within a 3 month period. At 19 crews per plane, that will jumpstart hiring again.

Hey Diesel9, how's your gate agent lady friend in NRT doing? Is she telling you that all Japanese people love 757 Captains, and that Northwest is still "Tokyo's favorite airline?" Yeah, right.

Bye Bye--General Lee

How many wheelchairs do you have to order from OPs inrange at RST? I think the most I ever had was 23 going from PBI to BOS once.

Bye Bye--General Lee
