If you used DOH, the majority of the Airtran guys would be back in the right seat. They would probably be pay protected. Which in the eyes of the law is fair and reasonable. Law suits from two previous takeovers lost due to the fact the pilots didn't suffer any economic loss. The judge didn't seen to care if their ego was hurt by not being in the left seat.

There is no way that would happen. First you are saying they would downgrade 800+ AAI captains and upgrade 800+ swa fo's. Do you know how long that would take? Plus you are going to upgrade 500 SWA fo's who have never flown the 717? Then on top of that pay protect everybody? SWA managment would freak out at how much that would cost and how long that would disrupt a merger. The whole benefit of a merger would be a strong presence in Atlanta and the east coast.

i'm a 3 year f/o at AAI and i'm not holding captain. Our upgrade just took a leap in the last few months because of our slowdown and age 65 to a lesser degree. I'm kind of expecting it to be a 4 year upgrade as of right now. Still much shorter than WN's...

As far as a merger would work out, didn't WN staple the Morris Air guys and give them years of seniority pay or pay protection. That is what would probably happen in this case.

The new law wouldn't allow that to happen.

I know you think I'm crazy but I predict next week SWA will announce the purchase of a scaled down ATA Airlines and future plans for an agressive International expansion in Q4 of this year.

No specifics at this time but that's my opinion and some others closer to the money trail.

This would seem the most likely scenario by far, yet the rumors persist about AirTran .

Sun Country also has International Ops. . . . . AirTran's CFO is the new Sun Country's CEO . . . . . . things will certainly become interesting in the upcoming year or two.

With SWA's recent mx snafu, it would be a terrible idea to get together with Air Tran and their well known mx problems. How many corners would this combination cut?

"Well-known MX issues?"

Really, . . . . do elaborate. I doubt you'd know the difference between an MEL and a CDL, but please do share with all of us your vast knowledge of our MX shortcomings.

The FAA has awarded us their highest ratings for the past 12 years, so you must have some super-secret intel. Better get that "Whistle-blower" protection going for when you start blowing whistles instead of goats.

Punch the Clown!

Did Air Tran ever go by another name?

That's about as intelligent as me asking you if the AF ever crashed into the most prominent mountain in Jackson Hole . . .

Man, I hope none of those Air Force guys ever goes to American . . . . you know, they hit a mountain once, too.

Maybe the AF should change their name to VALUE JET! Then, no one would know that they flew into a mountain. BTW, mx had nothing to do with Jackson Hole. Completely pilot error. Typical with AF pilots. That's why we fit like a glove at Value Jet. er...Air Tran.
